MVST Select: TREK Aluminum Suitcase Review 2024

Share

A carry-on suitcase is a must-have for any traveler, but finding the perfect one is a real challenge. There are tons of options on the market, and it is hard to navigate the many features available and figure out what you truly need.

I am fortunate to travel regularly, both domestically and internationally, and, like most people, I hate checking in luggage. Regardless of my destination, my preference is always to only travel with a carry-on. I have had many different ones through the years and have a pretty solid idea of what is important to me. Here are the top things I am looking for: compact, light, sleek and smart when it comes to storage. After some extensive research, I came across the MVST Trek Aluminum carry-on suitcase and here is why I think it’s a great pick.

Compact

This was probably the most important criteria for me. I wanted a compact carry so I would never have to worry about exceeding the carry-on dimensions of any airline. The exterior measurements of the Trek Aluminum Carry-On Suitcase are 22” x 14” x 8.7” (including wheels), which meets the carry-on requirements for all major airlines. It actually looks and feels slightly smaller than my previous carry-on bag and definitely a lot smaller than some of the carry-ons I see people dragging around at the airport.

Light

Weight is very important, as more and more airlines are implementing stricter weight policies for carry-on luggage. The weight of the Trek Aluminum Carry-On Suitcase is 9.6 lbs (a little over 4 kg), which isn’t particularly light but is in line with the weight of any hard-shell carry-on suitcase. If you would like to shave additional pounds off, your best course of action would be to look for a soft-material bag. I personally like the sturdiness of hard shell luggage; it feels safer and offers additional peace of mind for the rare occasions when I do have to check it in. As you know, overhead bin space is often limited, and airlines might have you check your carry-on bag at the last minute (at no additional cost other than the cost of your bag being roughed around), so you always have to be prepared!

Sleek

This is definitely what caught my attention. I am a big fan of the minimalist, sleek design of the Trek Aluminum Carry-On Suitcase. I picked the black one, and I truly love the look of it. It is perfect for both business and leisure trips. I love the ultra-smooth 360° spinner wheels that make it effortless to roll around airports and cities. It also comes with a slow-release aluminum telescoping handle, which is very comfortable to grab, sturdy and still in line with the super sleek look. There are also premium handles on both the top and the side of the Trek Aluminum Carry-On Suitcase, making it easy to grab, carry or store. Seriously, everything about it was carefully thought through, resulting in the perfect elevated style for the modern traveler.

Smart Organization

I wanted a smart suitcase, meaning it is easy to find things and to organize everything effortlessly. I love the versatility of the Trek Aluminum Carry-On Suitcase, specifically the two removable interior pocketed panels. The first one has a deep zipper pocket and a padded compartment, perfect to fit a laptop or tablet. It easily attaches and detaches using adjustable straps with Velcro. The second panel features plastic buckles and has two zipper pockets. One of the pockets is made of mesh material, while the other has more of a plastic texture. This doubles as a toiletry bag; simply undo the plastic buckles to free it from the suitcase, buckle them back together, and store it in your hotel bathroom without having to empty anything. This is very ingenious, and this was the first time I came across something like this in a suitcase. Finally, the Trek Aluminum Carry-On Suitcase comes with a protective cover and a dust bag for storage in between trips.

Other: Durability & Risk-Free

The greatest fear of any traveler, or at least mine, is to have your suitcase break mid-trip, and the worst kind would be zipper failure. The good news is, you’ll never have to worry about that with the Trek Aluminum Carry-On Suitcase since it offers a zipper-less closure. On top of that, the hardshell exterior of the suitcase is made of an unbreakable aluminum-magnesium alloy. It also features rubber seals and has reinforced corners for increased durability. This is what gives this suitcase the strength and durability to endure the rough handling that goes with traveling. A quick note on safety: it also comes with dual TSA-approved combo locks that are directly attached to the closure system; you’ll never have to worry about losing or forgetting to bring locks.

The Trek Aluminum Carry-On Suitcase retails for $395.00. This is definitely on the higher end, but it will cost you much less than going through multiple bags in the long run. It also removes unnecessary stress when traveling, knowing your bag will not let you down mid-way through your trip and that your personal belongings are secure. MVST offers the option to pay in full or in 4 interest-free installments of $98.75. Shipping is free to the contiguous U.S. and typically takes 2–5 business days (worldwide shipping is also available for a fee).

I would highly recommend giving this carry-on a try. Still on the fence? Try it for yourself and if you’re not 100% satisfied with the Trek Aluminum Carry On Suitcase, you have 30 days to return it (return shipping is free!)
