5 Powerful Ways To Get Manifestation and The Law of Attraction Working for You

The Law of Attraction doesn't have to be a mystery. Learn how to foster the manifestation of your heart's desires by adopting these five powerful habits!

Whether you believe in the Law of Attraction or not, the truth is we’re all powerful manifestation machines! The problem is that so many of us are wasting energy focusing on everything that could go wrong or replaying negative experiences that happened in the past over and over again in our mind. Manifestation isn’t a magic wand. It’s an interactive experience and a state of mind that takes practice and requires consistency.

In the same way that Olympic athletes aren’t made overnight, becoming a master of manifestation takes work. The law of attraction asks you to dig deep, identify your true desires, confront limiting beliefs, practice visualization, let go of resistance and stay grateful! Manifestation isn’t a spiritual belief or something reserved for “enlightened” people, either. It’s an exercise for your subconscious. To re-invoke the athlete analogy: You don’t get a six pack by laying on the couch all day.

According to manifestation master Abraham Hicks, “You never get it done, and you cannot get it wrong. Life is supposed to be fun: You are creator, you are a focusing mechanism, and you are here in an environment that is very conducive to that. When you get hold of an idea, play it out for the pleasure in it. If you are doing it for any other reason, then you are not connecting to your Source Energy.”

Here are five consciousness-healthy habits you can easily incorporate into your daily life to get the power of manifestation working for you!

1. Know What You Desire

The first step in mastering manifestation is knowing what you want. While this might sound obvious, the truth is many of us haven’t spent that much time getting really clear about what it is we really desire. It’s also easy to be influenced by what the media, your family or friends think you should want. Desires are deeply personal, and the key to manifesting is to get specific.

Hoping to manifest a new home? A vacation? A spouse? In order for manifestation to really work, spend some time thinking about the details. Where is your dream home located? Does it have a view? How many bedrooms? What’s the price? In the case of partners, don’t just wish for any love. Think about the qualities you want in a partner and write them down. The devil – or your desire in this case – is in the details.

If you don’t know what you want, it’s hard to follow through and take the steps to make it actually happen. Not knowing what you truly desire also makes it hard to recognize when it’s staring you right in the face. Start by making a list of your heart’s deepest desires and write down the details. Don’t limit yourself, either! The imagination has no bounds … and neither does the universe!

2. Align Your Beliefs

Align Your Beliefs

Getting your beliefs aligned with your desires (once you’ve identified them) is the second step in manifestation. A lot of times, people desire things that are directly contradictory to beliefs they hold about themselves, others and the way the universe might work. It’s important to confront what beliefs might be holding you back from receiving your desires and re-frame them in a way that will allow your dreams to manifest in reality.

You might desire a really attractive partner, for example, and at the same time believe that you aren’t worthy of one. Or you might have an inner desire to be a successful CEO of a tech company but also have the belief that you aren’t smart enough to achieve this dream. The reality is almost all of us are walking around with beliefs preventing us from attaining the very things, experiences and relationships we really long for.

The best way to remove limiting beliefs is to identify them, write them down and re-frame them. Taking the two examples above you can reframe the limiting beliefs this way: “My ideal partner is looking for all the qualities that I possess. What I seek is seeking me.” And: “I have all the tools I need to run a successful company and am willing and open to all the help the universe offers me in the journey to realizing this dream.”

3. Visualize Your Desire

The third step in manifestation is visualization. Once you know what your true desires are and have taken steps to work on letting go of any limiting beliefs, it’s time to visualize! This step can be done in a number of different ways, but the most important part of it is consistency. You can build a dream board, paint a picture, write a poem, meditate and use positive affirmations to help you visualize your desires – anything that allows you to marinate on your dreams in detail. The easiest way to visualize is to sit in meditation for 5-10 minutes a day in the morning or evening and imagine your desires as if they are real and here now. Visualizing the details is very important! How do you feel? What do you see? Who is with you?

Athletes use visualization successfully all the time. It’s a key part of their training. Aside from the physical training, watching reruns of their games, watching videos of other successful players and meditating on winning their games has proved to help them win in reality! Even Olympians use imagery as mental training.

Visualization is a way of reprograming your subconscious mind. Most of us don’t realize how much we visualize and tell ourselves negative things all day long. It’s sometimes easier to visualize things going wrong than it is to visualize things going our way. Taking the time to redirect your mind by visualizing your desires keeps you in charge of what you’re attracting instead of just going through life on autopilot.

4. Let Go

Learning to release resistance is the key to letting go. This is the hardest part of manifestation, in my opinion, and definitely the most frustrating. How do you let go while also being devoted to visualizing your desires everyday? It can sound kind of contradictory!

Manifestation guru Hicks says, “In order to leverage the power of the Law of Attraction, you must learn to get out of the way. To take your oars out of the water and release resistance … and you do this by guiding your thoughts.” How do you know when you’re experiencing resistance? Well you can feel it.

Say you’re trying to manifest a new home and you worked on the steps above – you even made a dream board! But on your commute to work every morning, your mind goes over every single reason why it’s going to be impossible to save for the down payment on your dream home. You start to feel frustrated and, just like that, despite your dream board, you’re pushing your desires away. Feeling positive and releasing worries about the hows and whys of attracting your desires are key parts of manifesting your dreams.

Don’t waste precious energy on worry or low self-esteem. Low self-esteem is based on what might have happened in the past, and worry is based on what might happen in the future. Neither is here in present reality. Better use the power of your imagination to let the universe know you feel great about your heart’s desires and are ready to receive them now and in any way. Let go of your resistance and stay positive!

5. Practice Gratitude

Gratitude is a powerful way to manifest your desires and incredible experiences. It sets you up for success by focusing on the positive. Being thankful shifts your focus to the abundance of life and opens you up to receive more. Recognizing what you’ve already received makes it easier to believe in receiving again.

Gratitude is key, not only in the Law of Attraction but in everyday interactions. Imagine giving someone a gift and they barely thank you. Would you be excited to give them more? Probably not. But if someone enthusiastically thanks you and celebrates, you’d be excited to give them another gift. Being thankful and celebrating what you’re grateful for releases resistance and reminds you of the universe’s abundance.
