5 Curly Hairstyles For Busy Girls To Rock This Spring

For those of us who are blessed with curly hair, there’s nothing like walking around rocking your curls in their full glory. Curly hair is bouncy, beautiful, and we love how fun and versatile it is, but we also know that it requires completely different methods of maintenance. From the wash days to the conditioners to keep curls moisturized and nourished, curly hair, just like any hair texture, requires its own special brand of TLC. On days where we can’t take out too much time to tend to our ‘do the way we want to, we need easy, fast curly hairstyles that we can throw our hair in. We’ve rounded up five easy styles for girls on the go that will take less than 10 minutes to do, but will look like it took you longer thanthat.
5.) Two Buns
The lazy bun is a classic way to tame curly hairstyles. The effortless style has undergone transformations and rebirths over the last few years, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. For a more edgy, circa ’90s look, make your bun a twin and wear two instead of one! This style is not only simple, it’s the perfect style for enjoying the spring sun. If you live in a warmer climate, it keeps your curls off of your neck and lets it breathe. If you’ve got a little extra time, flat-twist or braid the front of your hair to feed into the two buns for extra oomph. Also, experiment wearing both low and high buns and see what works best for you.

4.) Slick and Low Pony
We all have those days where our curls are looking a bit lifeless after a few days of wash-n-go’s. The great thing about the slick low ponytail is that it’s a quick go-to for days like these and due to its sleekness, it can be appropriate for most settings. This style can work for both long and short curly hair, and if you want to get creative, add on extensions in the back for a fuller ponytail!
To get this look, choose your favorite part and slick your hair back with water and gel into a tight low ponytail and wrap it at night before bed. In the morning, you’ll wake up to a super-slick ponytail, then spritzsome water or leave in conditioner on your ends for extra curl definition and voila!
3.) Curl-Friendly Hats
Some days are for running errands, going to the gym and knocking things off of our to-do lists. On days like those, throwing on a hat is the perfect stand-in for great curly hairstyles. Unfortunately, for the longest time, there was a silly myth that girls with big curls couldn’t wear hats the same way straight-haired girls could. Most hat brands weren’t curl-friendly. Nowadays, there are so many ways to wear cute hats and show off your beautiful curls at the same time. Thanks to YouTube and brands like Ivy Park, girls with curls are no longer left behind.
If you can’t get your hands on a curl-friendly cap, then head to YouTube for tons of DIY tutorials on how to make your own. There are tons of ways to showcase your curls, from ponytails to afros, with a visor or a hat. All you need is a regular baseball cap and your hair and you’ve got the sporty chic look down.
2.) Half-Up Half-Down Top Knot
The half-up half-down style is another classic hairdo that has evolved and transformed over time. Recently, the trendy top knot has flooded social media with girls of all hair textures. This fun style is also easy and versatile and canbe done on both freshly washed hair for a more sleek look and day-old hair for a more effortless, easy style.
The top knot half-up style is also a great way to keep the curls out of the face and show off your features. This style can be rocked anywhere – brunch, concert, the park, running errands around town – anywhere, and you’ll look good while doing it.
For a variation, leave the bun out and let your curls cascade on top to really show off your curls. For shorter curly girls, twist the top of your hair back instead of the ponytail.
1.) Half-Braided Wash-n-Go
Wash day can be an intimidating, time-consuming day, depending on your hairtexture. One of the best things about curly hair is its versatility and ability to be worn both wet and dry. “Wash-n-go” is a term that is popular among curly hair communities, and YouTube is full of tutorials to give your freshly washed curls the best definition and bounce. On days where we don’t have time to style our hair but don’t necessarily want to leave it down, these easy wash-n-go curly hairstyles are essential.
The half-braided wash-n-go is a twist on the classic curly ‘fro. It’s a sleek look and will bring attention to your face. To achieve this look, after washing hair and putting leave-in conditioner, part the hair in four sections. Braid or twist each section going toward the back of your hair and secure all four of the braids with a hair tie. Once you’re done with the top section, fluff your curls and go! Check out the tutorial above for a great visual on how to achieve this look!
