Cat Keeps Hissing At Babysitter, Gut Tells Dad To Film Her

As the family sat down to dine together, the babysitter joined them. Usually, their cat was friendly with guests, that was why they were so surprised when the cat hissed at her. His beautiful fur was now standing on end as his tail slowly waved back and forth, malignancy evident in his eyes.
She felt embarrassed as she called the cat, hoping that his behavior hadn’t upset her. As far as they could tell, there were no signs that the cat was trying to communicate something about the babysitter.

Katy and Will Hawthorne had just gotten married and were expecting their first child. They had a lovely home in St. Louise, Missouri and it felt like life couldn’t get any better than this.
They had been a couple since college, and it was safe to say that they knew each other better than anyone else ever could. They knew they couldn’t live without each other, that was why they decided to get married. But everything changed when Katy learned of her pregnancy.

They always thought that they couldn’t live without each other, but now they were learning that they couldn’t exist without the new soul that was coming their way.
Gift From The Neighbor

When Katy was three months pregnant, the unexpected happened. One of their neighbors were moving to New York and they had a parting gift for the couple.
Katy and Will didn’t know it at the time, but the neighbor’s cat had given birth to a kindle of kittens. Their neighbor decided to gift them one of the brand-new, little balls of fur. But Katy and Will had no idea how much the little kitten would change their lives.
The Big Day Finally Came

Before they knew it, Katy’s third trimester had come to an end and they were welcoming baby Craig into the world.
But Katy and Will were not alone. Alongside them was Mjolnir Jonathan who was no longer a tiny kitten, he had turned into a massive and powerful Maine Coon. The Hawthornes were overjoyed, but having a new born baby would bring its own set of challenges.

Having a newborn is challenging in every family. These challenges usually present themselves when both parents are career people.
That was the case for Katy and Will. They were both working hard to provide for their family. They were lucky enough that both their companies offered eleven months of leave, but they didn’t know what to expect once they would have to return to work.
Caring And Affectionate

During those eleven months, the couple took great care of little Craig. They adored that Mjolnir seemed to care for Craig as much as they did. He was always gentle and affectionate towards him. The cat barely left Craig alone.
He would stay in Craig’s room with him, napping and playing with Craig whenever he was able to. Their relationship was something out of a fantasy book, and it would change the family’s lives forever.
End Of Leave

The end of the couple’s leave loomed over their heads. They had no other option but to find a nanny for Craig. Katy and Will immediately started searching.
They did everything they could to find the perfect nanny and after many interviews, they settled on Mindy. She was a college student and they loved her positivity. She got to work immediately, but soon, the couple noticed that little things weren’t adding up as the days went by.
Behavior Changes

They first realized that something was up when they saw Mjolnir’s reaction to Mindy after her first week at work. Mindy shrugged his reaction off, explaining that he could probably smell her dog’s scent on her
Mjolnir’s behavior towards Mindy didn’t change throughout the next week, but Katy and Will brushed it off as him being grumpy. But soon after this, Craig also started acting differently. That was when Katy could tell that something was terribly wrong.
He Flinched

One evening, Katy and Will got into a small argument. Katy can’t remember what the argument was about, but she can remember how Craig flinched at their raised voiced.
His reaction sent alarms blaring within Katy. She thought she knew why Mjolnir and Craig were acting differently, but she hoped to be proven wrong. The changes all happened when Mindy started working there.
Realization Hits

Katy told Will everything that was happening in her mind. Her gut constricted as she relayed her fears. Her lungs ran empty. Was Mindy mistreating Craig or Mjolnir?
Will listened carefully. He leaned into the chair he was sitting on, sharing a plan that was sure to solve the mystery behind Mjolnir and Craig’s change in behavior.
Something’s Wrong

Will’s plan sounded absurd at first. But the more Katy thought about it, the more it made sense. She gave her husband the green light, and Will hurried out of the room, returning with a small microphone which he hid in Mjolnir’s collar.
The next day, the couple left the house like they did every morning. But they didn’t go to work. Waiting in a nearby parking lot, they finally uncovered what was happening in their home.
The Plan Works

Mindy’s voice came through Will’s phone, which he’d connected to Mjolnir’s microphone. The couple heard the babysitter yell at Craig for not finishing his bottle.
She cursed him out when he started crying, calling him names, and threatening him. She turned her attention to Mjolnir, but the Hawthornes were racing back to the house by then.
Think Before You Act

As Katy and Will reached their house, Katy held Will back. Although she wanted to stop what was happening in her home, she knew they didn’t have solid proof to validate their case when they called the police.
Katy and Will got back to the house and worked from home that day, insisting Mindy stay over since they’d be committed to work. They watched how she treated Craig and Mjolnir, seeing how good a pretender she was.
None Is As Worthy

That same night Katy and Will installed cameras in their home and left early the next day. As expected, Mindy mistreated Craig, but this time on camera. The family called the police immediately, and Mindy was arrested, with the police not allowing her to babysit again.
The Hawthornes resolved to work from home. Though they were glad they’d installed that microphone and cameras all over the house, they knew they couldn’t have done it without Mjolnir, their awesome cat.
