According to Mrs. Smith, Sarah and Lisa were sisters, and they had inherited the house they were living in when both of their parents tragically perished in a car crash.

They had also inherited some money, and things were going well with them for some time until they started having loud parties at their house.

Mrs. Smith and a number of other elderly neighbors had their homes broken into on several occasions, and they knew it started when Sarah and Lisa had their house parties.

Now he watched them as they desperately tried to take some items without paying. They kept looking around, and the store was mostly empty.

Officer Hayden just sighed. He was so disappointed in the ladies he had known since they were little girls.

He told them to wait and not put anything else into their bag. He went over to speak to Mr. Reynolds. He explained the whole situation to him and hoped that he would understand.

However, Mr. Reynolds was still very angry. But in the end, he let it go.

He believed in second chances, and he knew what it was like to struggle. After all, the ladies had managed to turn their lives around.

Officer Hayden walked up to them. “Okay, listen up. I’m going to pay for all of your items if you promise to never ever do something like this again. Mr. Reynolds is willing to look past this incident if you ladies don’t ever steal from him again. If you come up short of anything again, please call me. Mr. Reynolds and I are willing to help you wherever we can, but we will not tolerate crime in this town any longer. Do you understand?”

A Promise

The sisters, still teary-eyed, nodded vigorously. Officer Hayden led them to the cashier, paid for their items, and gave them a stern warning.
