Supplementing Your Way to Health

Listening to the usual radio and TV shows, we are always ready to hop on the next vitamin fad of yore. We think that by downing in B-12 we will feel extremely energetic, drinking Vitamin C packets all day we’ll get the skin of a 12 year old forevermore, and by taking psyllium we’ll never have gastrointestinal issues again. Think again readers.

Thinking this way will have you tied to society’s view of health and company-sponsored research at all times, emptying your wallet while not necessarily benefiting your health, and in some cases actually harming it. Let us tune in to the body by feeding it well and listening to what it craves once healthy first of all. Coming into healthy eating can feel overwhelming considering our lifestyles and the food that surrounds us at family and friends’ houses and company meetings. By supplementing with actual, healthy, whole foods, we can jumpstart our way into a healthier way of life. Here are some of the greatest perfect supplements that almost everyone can take regardless of bodily conditions.

5 Cold-pressed Flaxseed Oil

Flaxseed oil is an excellent addition for most people’s diets, as most of us are deficient in Omega-3’s. Flaxseed oil is excellent for babies, children, teenagers, men, women, people with chronic ailments, athletes, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and elderly people. Basically everyone – as everyone needs healthy fats in their bodies for optimal functioning. Many fish oils unfortunately contain unhealthy by-products that render the oil harmful rather than healthful, so purchasing organic, cold-pressed flaxseed oil is the easy solution here. These are available at most health food stores and even some grocery stores.

4 Sea Vegetables

Sea vegetables are the most protective (against radiation/heavy metals) than any other foods out there. They also prevent against bone cancer, prevent body fat and mucus deposits, are rich in vitamins and all 56 minerals, and low in calories. They have been eaten all over the world for centuries. Look for arame, wakame, nori, dulse, kombu, agar-agar and hijiki, and get creative. There are many excellent recipes online – just try to keep the recipes as unheated as possible.

3 Probiotics

Probiotics are well-known these days as they have resurfaced from the depths, but we should know that they have been in most civilizations in some form or another throughout history, known for their health-boosting abilities. There was kefir in the Middle East and Russia, miso in Japan and pickled vegetables and yogurt in Europe. Probiotics help to increase the good bacteria in your small intestine, to fight against bad bacteria (yeast) as well as improve digestion and nutrient assimilation. Try any of the above probiotic-rich foods, or take a reputable probiotic supplement daily.

2 Panax Ginseng

Panax Ginseng is one of the most revered herbs in human history. It regulates the adrenals, balances digestion, and protects the body against invasive substances. It also provides energy to both men and women and should be used by people with adrenal burn-out, low immunity, diminished energy, and problematic reproductive issues. Buy the highest quality you can in root, tincture or capsule form based on your experience with herbs.

1 Vitamineral Greens

Vitamineral Greens are an excellent addition to ones diet because they are alkalizing and cleanse and build the muscles, bones, and organs. Not many foods do all of this, and with the wide variety of foods included, from vegetables, fruits and sea vegetables to probiotics and herbs, you will be getting bio-available nutrients from real, whole food sources. Simply mix the powder into water, juice, or a smoothie.

Incorporating fresh, raw fruits and vegetables into your diet will be your main help on your path to true health and vibrancy, but adding these five foods into your diet will help. Add juicing, food combining and exercise in there and you’ll be a superhuman before you know it.
