American Gladiators often brings to mind the nostalgia of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. It was the pinnacle of reality TV for the era, way before the Kardashians ruled the world. Viewers couldn’t get enough of watching the Gladiators beat hopeful Contenders into submission.

Over the years, many Gladiators came and went from the show which ran from 1989 to 1996. The same goes for the Live Tour and the short lived revival version born in 2008. Have you ever wondered what became of your favorite body slamming stars? Readers, are you ready?

GOLD

Gold

Real Name: Tonya Knight
Years Active: 1990-1992
Est. Net Worth: $250,000*

Although landing a part on a popular TV show like American Gladiators certainly helps to raise a profile, Tonya Knight was already a big deal. In fact, she was one of the top female professional bodybuilders in the world, winning competitions all over the globe. Knight loved bodybuilding and had first started in high school.

After injuring her knee on the show, the star was forced to retire from the sport. As a side note, Gold found love with her castmate Atlas’ twin brother, John Poteat. Sadly, it didn’t last, but they did have a son named Malachi.

LASER

Laser

Real Name: Jim Starr
Years Active: 1989-96
Est. Net Worth: $750,000*

Jim Starr stayed on the show for an impressive seven seasons, showing the world what he was working with. Although he was one of the smallest Gladiators at 230 pounds, Laser was mighty. Starr made a career out of the fitness industry and has been working with Life Time Fitness for some time as their director of product development.

“I’ve become an avid mountain biker,” he admitted in an interview. “I bike four days a week and then I’m at the gym lifting weights for the other three days. If I don’t get on that bike I’m really intense. Ask my wife.”

BLAZE

Blaze

Real Name: Sha-ri Pendleton
Years Active: 1989-92
Est. Net Worth: $200,000*

When it comes to sheer strength and durability, few could beat Blaze. Sha-Ri Pendleton had some serious muscles by the time she was cast on American Gladiators, thanks to her time training as an Olympic javelin thrower and professional bodybuilder. So, what does she do these days?

When Sha-Ri isn’t working on maintaining her form, she’s working as a substitute teacher in the Bellflower, California area. After she’s done shaping young minds and marking papers, Pendleton heads down to the track at St. John Bosco High where she’s known simply as coach. Her son Re-Al was also on the team.

REBEL

Rebel

Real Name: Mark Tucker
Years Active: 1993-1994
Est. Net Worth: $1.2 million*

Mark Tucker found a home for his talents on the series, but his heart always belonged to football. The former NFL and AFL player joined for season 5, wowing the audience with his upper-body prowess. After leaving the NFL in 2006, Tucker joined the Arizona Rattlers where he eventually took up a spot as a coach.

These days, the popular sportsman spends his time teaching kids at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona, where he also doubles up as the offensive line coach. When he’s not doing that, he’s sliding down poles and fighting blazes for the Phoenix Fire Department.

MAYHEM

Mayhem

Real Name: William Romeo
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $500,000*

William “Mayhem” Romeo has the last name of a lover, but the Gladiator name of a fighter. The seasoned pro has a background that stems from dance and the martial arts, making him an exceptionally fluid battler. Mayhem tried out to be on the original series but didn’t get through until 2008.

After the show wrapped, he went into Hollywood and has starred in several popular TV shows, from Without a Trace to How I Met Your Mother. As well as going to auditions, the star has been known to teach the odd fitness class in the City of Angels.

GEMINI

Gemini

Real Name: Michael Horton
Years Active: 1989-92
Est. Net Worth: $1.5 million*

Standing at an impressive 6’2” tall and weighing 255 lbs, Michael “Gemini” Horton looked like an imposing threat. However, he was widely known as the gentle giant and one of the nicer cast members. Like many of his colleagues, Horton came from the NFL.

It’s hardly surprising that Horton went on to become a personal trainer and acquire a second-degree black belt. The star also started a legacy as both of his sons are interested in sports. Wes Horton also played in the NFL for the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints before retiring in 2019.

ICE

Ice

Real Name: Lori Fetrick
Years Active: 1991-96
Est. Net Worth: $325,00*

Compared to the other Gladiators, Lori “Ice” Fetrick was a pint-sized pocket rocket. Her reach went beyond just the on-screen version of the show as she also signed up to participate in the 114-city Live Tour. Fetrick had been raised as an athlete, participating in tons of activities in her high school years.

In the years that followed AG, Fetrick made cameo appearances in some TV shows, wrote a book about fitness and even produced her very own workout video. After working as a personal trainer and opening up a gym, Fetrick switched tracks and became a Financial Professional at Transamerica.

ATLAS

Atlas

Real Name: Philip Dow Poteat
Years Active: 1992-1993
Est. Net Worth: $200,000*

Philip “Atlas” Dow Poteat was only on the show for a short time, but fans went wild for him. He loved acting as much as he loved bodybuilding, so landing a part on AG was like a dream come true. Sadly, Philip passed away in 2017 at 50 of undisclosed causes.

“His faithful friends all over the country know and remember him as a big man with a big heart and beautiful soul,” reads his memorial. “They will remember him as a lover of motocross racing, fast cars, and all levels of football (especially the Philadelphia Eagles) and the great adventure of living large.”

LACE (the Second)

Lace (The Second)

Real Name: Natalie Lennox
Years Active: 1992-1993
Est. Net Worth: $400,000*

Natalie “Lace” Lennox had the beauty and the brawn to make quick work of her competitors on AG. Originally, Lennox applied to be a competitor on the show, but producers liked her so much they asked her to be a Gladiator and take over the title of Lace from Marisa Pare. Lennox was eventually replaced by Siren.

After bowing out of the show Lennox took a different direction and now owns a horse farm in Florida. She hasn’t left the world of muscles behind entirely as she won her first bodybuilding competition in 2014 at the NPC Orlando Europa Show of Champions.

MALIBU

Malibu

Real Name: Deron McBee
Years Active: 1991-92
Est. Net Worth: $350,000*

It took all kinds of Gladiators to make the show a success. Deron “Malibu” McBee was billed as the laid-back California surfer dude, but he still knew how to pummel the contenders down. In reality, McBee preferred racketball to surfing.

Malibu took some time out but later returned, however it didn’t last. He did make an appearance on the live tour, before leaving entirely and focusing on his film career. McBee starred in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and Batman Forever.

ELEKTRA

Elektra

Real Name: Salina Bartunek
Years Active: 1992-1993
Est. Net Worth: $350,000*

Have you ever wondered where Elektra went after leaving the show in 1993? We’ve got the answer. The stunning blonde beauty and exceptional athlete Salina Bartunek started out her career as Shadow on the Live Tour before moving to the TV series, but Bartunek had plenty of other things going on, too.

Not only was she one of the best Gladiators out there, she was a professional dancer, choreographer, actress, and sports model. To say that she’s multi-talented would be an understatement. Salina worked as a Master Instructor for AntiGravityFitness.com for some time and also enjoys competitive rock climbing.

STORM

Storm

Real Name: Debbie Clark
Years Active: 1991-1993
Est. Net Worth: $5,000*

When she was on the show, Debbie “Storm” Clark was a fearless badass, but her personal story took a drastic turn when the knee injury she suffered during filming forced her to retire. By 2008, Clark was running from an abusive relationship alongside her son. With nowhere to turn, the one-time TV star lived on the streets for over two years.

When her former co-stars got wind of Storm’s situation, they all rallied around her and helped Clark and her son Clayton get back on track. “Homelessness does not have any prejudice,” she was quoted as saying. “You can end up in the same situation, it doesn’t matter.”

LACE (the Original)

Lace (The Original)

Real Name: Marisa Pare
Years Active: 1989-1992
Est. Net Worth: $15,000*

Marisa Pare originated the role of Lace. Perhaps she was given that nickname because she was 5’8” and 120 Ibs. Her slender stature didn’t fool anyone though – Lace knew how to throw down. Before she was spotted by the show, she was busy working as an interior designer while moonlighting as a lead singer.

After leaving the series, Pare posed for Playboy and had guest appearances on Clueless and Renegade. Now, Marisa has retired from the spotlight and continues to focus on her other endeavors – whatever they may be!

TOWER

Tower

Real Name: Steve Henneberry
Years Active: 1991-1994
Est. Net Worth: $200,000*

It’s The Tower of Power, Steve Henneberry! The former Mr. America had all the right elements to become a Gladiator, from impressive strength to dashing good looks. Henneberry stayed on the series for three seasons, making the most out of the wrestling skills he picked up in high school. Known for his resilience (he once had 44 stitches then returned to work three hours later) Tower was a popular AG staple.

In 2000, Henneberry decided to try a completely different career and went into residential and commercial real estate title insurance. In his spare time, he launched a graphic design and printing business titled Huckleberry Designs.

JADE

Jade

Real Name: Kimberly Rogers
Years Active: 1996-1998
Est. Net Worth: $30,000*

Here’s another quick-reacting, high-flying pro that started out as a Contender and made it to the top of the food chain. Jade joined the Orlando Live shows and stuck with the enterprise until it closed in 1998. No one could beat Jade at Powerball, she was superb.

During a stint in the army where she rose up to the rank of Sergeant, Kimberly Rogers discovered a love of bodybuilding. When she left the army, this love grew as she landed a spot on the show. Nowadays, Rogers still likes to keep in shape but works in real estate, raising American Bulldogs in her spare time.

TURBO

Turbo

Real Name: Galen Tomlinson
Years Active: 1990-1996, 1996-1998
Est. Net Worth: $200,000*

With his handsome good looks and ability to go from zero to hundred, Galen “Turbo” Tomlinson was the stuff producers dream of. Tomlinson appeared on the show from 1990-1996, then again from 1996-1998. When he tried out for the show, the young hopeful had never even seen an episode, but he didn’t let that stop him.

Now, Tomlinson lives in Southern California where he is the head coach and director of the Coast North County Volleyball Club. No one is as well-versed in the sport as him, with two decades teaching under his belt. His niece Carli went on to play professionally in Italy.

NITRO

Nitro

Real Name: Dan Clark
Years Active: 1989-’92, ’94-95
Est. Net Worth: $1 million*

Dan “Nitro” Clark first started working on the show when it originally aired. He was already a coveted sportsman who played briefly for the NFL. On the show, Nitro came up against many hopefuls but often won out. After the series finished, Clark turned to acting and released his memoir in 2009.

After suffering a heart attack, Dan reevaluated his life and released another book titled F Dying in 2017 which focuses on his life after his health issues. As well as speaking about his experience as Nitro, the star is also the founder of the health program Ten Thousand Pounds which focuses on tackling childhood obesity.

SIREN

Siren

Real Name: Shelley Beattie
Years Active: 1992-1996
Est. Net Worth: $15,000*

Siren’s part on the show was incredibly important, showing the world that having a disability shouldn’t slow you down. Shelley Beattie became deaf at the age of three after she accidentally ate aspirin, thinking they were sweets. With help, Beattie’s hearing improved over the years. As well as being an accomplished bodybuilder, gymnast, and heptathlete, Beattie was also a Western Oregon State College graduate.

The star went on to work as a counselor at a group home, helping children overcome their problems, but sadly she wasn’t able to conquer her own demons. Beattie passed away in 2008 at the age of 39, three days after attempting to take her own life.

JAZZ (the Second)

Jazz

Real Name: Victoria Gay
Years Active: 1993-1996
Est. Net Worth: $45,000*

She might have been the second person to hold the Jazz title, but Victoria Gay made the role her own. Jazz had a history of being incredibly hyped and fierce during her battles, making her one to watch. Originally Gay tried out to be a contender before producers invited her to be a full-time Gladiator.

These days, Victoria works in the Real Estate industry in Humble, Texas, but her son caught the athletic bug from his mom. Barry Bowman played for Southwestern Louisiana’s basketball team. Interestingly, before she was ever a Gladiator, Jazz was busy getting a degree in petroleum technology.

DIAMOND

diamond

Real Name: Erika Andersch
Years Active: 1990-1993
Est. Net Worth: $25,000*

Diamonds don’t just glitter and look pretty – they’re hard as nails. Erika Andersch proved that she had everything it took to rock the show from 1990 to 1993. As a bodybuilder since her teens and a softball, volleyball, soccer, and basketball aficionado, Andersch had a good grasp on every task and often excelled in her battles.

The German-born star capitalized on her AG infamy by starring in commercials, posing for Playboy, and having a brief cameo in Batman Returns as The Knife Thrower Dame, working alongside Danny DeVito as the Penguin.

ZAP

Zap

Real Name: Raye Hollitt
Years Active: 1989, 1991-1995
Est. Net Worth: $150,000*

Raye “Zap” Hollitt came in like a bolt out of the blue to knock the socks off audiences when the show debuted. Hollitt already had some experience in the entertainment industry by the time the show came knocking and was already a competitive bodybuilder.

Since her stint on the series Zap has worked as a personal trainer, actress, massage therapist, and snowboard instructor. Her last bodybuilding contest was in 1992, years before she left AG to focus on other pursuits. At the height of her career, she appeared on the cover of Musclemag International three times.

HAWK

Real Name: Lee Reherman
Years Active: 1993-1996
Est. Net Worth: $50,000*

Lee “Hawk” Reherman was a well-loved member of the Gladiator community. He appeared on the show for three years in the early ‘90s, before going on to star in International Gladiators, too. Other shows he popped up in include Angel, Gilmore Girls, That’s So Raven, and even Hannah Montana.

The Hawkster ceased to fly on Tuesday, 1st March 2016 after falling ill from a hip replacement surgery. Reports suggest that the icon was the victim of a blood clot which led to his unexpected passing. His fellow cast mates congregated to celebrate his life on the 5th of March at one of his favorite bars in California.

SKY

SKY

Real Name: Shirley Eson-Korito
Years Active: 1992-1996
Est. Net Worth: $500,000*

Before becoming known as Sky, Shirley Eson-Korito made a name for herself on the American Gladiators Live Tour as Athena. When she clearly appealed to audiences, she was enlisted to appear on International Gladiators. Sky loved the show and stuck with it until it ceased production.

An avid athlete, Eson-Korito has competed in numerous races and was once a centurion. These days, Shirley runs Fur and Feathers Pet Resort, an award-winning residential pet hotel in Florida, but she never lost her love of sports. In 2016 she competed in the IFBB Orlando Pro & NPC Southern USA, marking her return to bodybuilding.

WOLF

Wolf

Real Name: Don “Hollywood” Yates
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $45,000*

When you’ve got a nickname like Wolf you better live up to it! Don Yates also had another moniker: Hollywood. The over-the-top star appeared on NBC’s American Gladiators in 2008, bringing a bit of glamor to proceedings. He certainly had the energy needed to keep the audience entertained.

Interestingly, aside from his turn on the series, Yates has been a professional rodeo circuit bullfighter and rodeo clown for years. He has won numerous accolades in the industry, but it came at a cost: 130 broken bones and three knee surgeries. As you might expect, Yates has starred in several movies and TV shows.

CRUSH

CRUSH

Real Name: Gina Carano
Years Active: 2007 – 2008
Est. Net Worth: $100,000*

Brunette beauty Gina “Crush” Carano looked like the girl-next-door, but she fought like a warrior and put the fear of God into the contenders. The Dallas native led her high school basketball team to state victory and also played volleyball and softball. Carano is a born athlete.

After doing incredibly well in the MMA field, she retired from competition and went into acting. Carano landed a part in Steven Soderbergh’s 2011 feature Haywire, which earned her a nomination for a Critic’s Choice Award. Since then, she has appeared in Fast & Furious 6In the Blood, and Deadpool.

TITAN (the Original)

Titan

Real Name: David Nelson
Years Active: 1990
Est. Net Worth: $50,000*

With 220Ibs of pure muscle, David “Titan” Nelson had everything going for him…except for his attitude. While audiences were down with his competitive streak, he often came across as angry and violent, making him an unpredictable Gladiator. He only lasted for one half of the first season, with rumors whirling that he was fired for chasing the referee.

He continued to work in the entertainment industry following his departure, starring in over 30 commercials and making guest appearances on some of the most popular shows of the decade. He entered the world of professional wrestling in 2000 and appeared with The Rock in Wyclef Jean’s music video “It Doesn’t Matter.”

JOHN

John

Real Name: John Ferraro (Co-host)
Years Active: 1982-present
Est. Net Worth: $579,000*

Mike Adamle was brilliant, but he was backed up by his fellow host John Ferraro. Together they were the dream team, making every move seem like the best thing since sliced bread. Ferraro stayed on the AG team for years, right from the beginning.

Ferraro has made the show and its subsequent spin-offs his life’s work and is constantly trying to get new variations made. Little is known about what exactly John is up to these days, but judging by his IMDB page he’s been working on the Finnish version of the series since 2017.

MIKE

Mike

Real Name: Mike Adamle (Co-host)
Years Active: 1989-96
Est. Net Worth: $5 million*

Mike Adamle didn’t have to bodyslam anyone or tackle them to the ground. He just had to comment on it. Adamle stayed on the mic from the show’s inception to 1996, going on to co-host International Gladiators. Given his exceptional talent and ability to get the crowd hyped, Adamle’s career didn’t end when the show wrapped.

He found himself working for WWE in 2008 and continued to grow within the industry, where he was promoted to General Manager for the Raw brand. He has since worked for the AFL and competed in triathlons and Ironman.

HAVOC

Havoc

Real Name: George King
Years Active: 1992-1993
Est. Net Worth: $450,000*

Havoc’s appearance on the show was brief, appearing on the second half of the fourth season. George King isn’t one of the better-known Gladiators, but he did leave a mark on the series thanks to his exceptional sportsmanship and ability to face The Wall with ease. The American football whizz didn’t stick around for long though.

Little is known about what Havoc is up to these days, but we do know that he had a small part in Eddie Murphy’s caper Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. He played a stripper that shared the screen with Murphy and Janet Jackson.

JAZZ (the original)

Jazz

Real Name: Rhonda Shuman Lundstedt
Years Active: 1992
Est. Net Worth: $35,000*

The original Jazz was fun-loving and great to watch, but only if you caught her on the American Gladiators Live Tour. Rhonda Shuman Lundstedt didn’t appear on the TV show, so her appeal was denied to many. Rhonda initially started getting into the gym to try and get back in shape after having four children.

That move turned into a passion which saw her become an award-winning bodybuilder. Despite sustaining several injuries in a car accident that saw her give up the sport, Lundstedt made a full recovery. She lives in Key West with her four kids and enjoys her quiet family life.

SABRE

Sabre

Real Name: Red Williams
Years Active: 1993-96
Est. Net Worth: $125,000*

“Hang tough, hang tough on Sky Track, Cause I’m the real Eliminator about to highjack,” read Sabre’s rap. It’s not exactly intimidating, but that didn’t matter for Red Williams. The former Los Angeles Rams player went on to appear in several TV shows, including Babylon Five.

Williams is married to Rhonda with whom he shares three children and enjoys a typical family life. As a former Bloods member as a teen, Red spends a lot of time talking to local schools and is considered to be a very positive role model for the youth of today. He is also a member of the Constitutional Rights Foundation and the Cancer II Foundation.

DALLAS

DALLAS

Real Name: Shannon Hall
Years Active: 1994-98
Est. Net Worth: $125,000*

Dallas wanted to be a Contender and never imagined she would land a spot on the show as Gladiator. Like some of her contemporaries, Shannon Hall ripped the tryout up so much that she landed a permanent role. Dallas became her nickname because everyone kept forgetting what her actual name was.

Hall’s prowess didn’t go unnoticed and she was offered a professional boxing contract in 1996. She went on to completely smash that field as heavyweight champion. WWE jumped on the bandwagon in  1998 and offered her a contract, but Hall never appeared on TV. She now runs a gym called Gladiator Arena in Florida.

TANK

TANK

Real Name: Ed Radcliffe
Years Active: 1994
Est. Net Worth: $15,000*

Back in the day, not everyone picked to be a Gladiator was guaranteed some screen time. As well as the usual faces that would appear on TV, there were a series of alternates that would jump in if anything ever went wrong. One of them was Tank. Ed Radcliffe was persuaded by Raye Hollitt to try out.

As a former marine, Radcliffe was eager to compete and get down with his bad self by smashing Contenders out of the water. Sadly, he only stuck around for a short while before realizing that the Hollywood lifestyle wasn’t for him. He had no interest in being famous; he just wanted to battle.

THUNDER

THUNDER

Real Name: Billy Smith
Years Active: 1990-1992
Est. Net Worth: $1.5 million*

With his serious demeanor and floppy blonde hair, Billy “Thunder” Smith certainly didn’t look like he was about to mess around. Weighing 280Ibs, Thunder was all about body slamming his Contenders into next week. After getting bored with the competitive bodybuilding side of things, Smith turned his gaze toward nutrition and science after the early ‘90s.

He now owns and is the CEO of Intrafitt Enterprises, a successful business that helps athletes come up with specialized nutrition and exercises programs that are tailored to their needs. Bonus fact: he was once married to another Gladiator, Panther, but the union didn’t last.

PANTHER

PANTHER

Real Name: Cathy Sassin
Years Active: 1991-1992
Est. Net Worth: $1 million*

When Storm suffered a knee injury, it was Panther’s turn to leap into the fold and take a stab at the Live Tour. After showing promise she was picked as an alternate for the show, but was never used. She did find love though, marrying Thunder after striking up a romance in training.

When her stint as a Gladiator ended, Cathy went on to become one of the most well-respected and top-ranking adventure sports athletes in the world. Although she is no longer married to Thunder, they do still work on Intrafitt Enterprises together.

TITAN (the second)

Real Name: Bob Cicherillo
Years Active: 1991-1992
Est. Net Worth: $50,000*

He might be the second Titan, but Bob Cicherillo wasn’t phased by picking up the title. The Live Tour vet was a bodybuilding star, who specialized in both Powerball and Breakthrough & Conquer. The thought of these challenges is enough to make most grown men weep.

Cicherillo went on to be featured in many magazines thanks to his prestige figure and even appeared in a music video for “All-Star” hitmakers Smash Mouth. He also co-hosted the Pro Bodybuilding Weekly radio show alongside Dan Solomon, imparting his wisdom on his favorite subject. Titan also enjoyed an ESPN SportsCenter commercial alongside Stewart Scott.

VIPER

VIPER

Real Name: Scott Berlinger
Years Active: 1992-1993
Est. Net Worth: $445,000*

For Viper, sports wasn’t just something he loved, but something that he grew up learning about. An avid athlete since the age of six, Scott Berlinger had it in his blood. By the time he was in high school, he was an All-State swimmer. When he was in college, he gained notoriety for his wrestling skills.

His love of sports led to Berlinger creating his very own cycling team called Full Throttle Endurance Racing in NYC. The training group has since gone on to win four USA Triathlon Championships. Men’s Journal has named the star as one of the top five coaches in the US.

CYCLONE

CYCLONE

Real Name: Barry Turner
Years Active: 1992-1993
Est. Net Worth: $2 million*

Cyclone was tipped to become one of the best Gladiators the world had ever seen when he injured his bicep. He was forced to bow out after just a short run, but Barry Turner continued looking for acting work. He landed a role in Death Becomes Her and The Bodyguard, but didn’t exactly set Hollywood on fire.

Instead, he started up a business with one of his buddies and created Lenny and Larry’s, a food company that specializes in high-protein snacks. Although they sold the enterprise to Don Crouch, Turner missed it and bought his half back. He continues to serve as CEO of the brand.

BEAST

BEAST

Real Name: Matt Morgan
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $2 million*

Matt “Beast” Morgan did a great job of being big and bad. Often considered one of the most formidable Gladiators on NBC’s version of the show in the late ‘00s, Beast made his entrance in a cage. It took him just eight seconds to demolish a Contender.

Aside from his Gladiator exploits, Morgan was a professional wrestler in TNA Wrestling. He was a two-time World Tag Team Champion and also worked for WWE for three years from 2002 to 2005. Considered a prime specimen of a man, his DNA was taken and stored in the Immortality Drive which went up to the International Space Station in 2008.

SUNNY

Sunny

Real Name: Cheryl Barldinger
Years Active: 1989
Est. Net Worth: $150,000*

Standing at 6’2” tall, Sunny was championed as the “All-American Woman” on the series. Equally beautiful and fierce, Cheryl Barldinger played the part extraordinarily well. As a former competitive swimmer and model, Cheryl helped get AG off to a flying start, but was injured in the first season and never returned.

Sunny largely fell out of the public gaze after her short-lived stint on the series, but still dabbled in the entertainment business. She didn’t entirely let go of sport either, going on to race bikes competitively – and likely winning a lot of trophies if her AG record is anything to go by.

FURY

FURY

Real Name: Jamie Reed Kovac
Years Active: 2007 – 2008
Est. Net Worth: $50,000*

Coming up against Jamie “Fury” Reed Kovac was no walk in the park for hopefuls. She’s as strong as an ox. Kovac grew up pumping iron and taking part in competitive sports in school. She excelled in both pole vault and varsity track to become a well-known name in the field.

After leaving the show, Kovac carried on entering competitions that tested her physical strength. In 2010, she was named America’s Strongest Middleweight Woman. The star probably had the full support of her athlete husband, former Cornell Big Red hockey player Frank Kovac.

TITAN (the second)

TITAN

Real Name: Mike O’Hearn
Years Active: 1991/1992
Est. Net Worth: $400,000*

Mike “Titan” O’Hearn was 251 Ibs of pure steel. This Gladiator was billed as being beyond the usual levels of strength. He was something sent straight from the gods, with his Adonis-like figure and ability to pummel his opponents to a pulp. O’Hearn was part of both NBC’s American Gladiators and the original series.

Aside from his on-screen exploits, Mike O’Hearn has been named Mr. Universe, not one, not two, but four times. His list of accolades in the bodybuilding industry are too many to mention. Is it any wonder that he’s been on the cover of fitness magazines over 500 times?

FLAME

FLAME

Real Name: Nekole Hamrick
Years Active: 1996 – 1998
Est. Net Worth: $100,000*

Blond beauty Nekole “Flame” Hamrick was a long-standing fan of the show before she heard from a friend that they were hosting tryouts. She jumped at the opportunity. Producers loved her and quickly snapped her up, hosting her on the series for two years.

Like many of her contemporaries, Hamrick took bodybuilding to the next level. As a result, years after the show wrapped she was still competing and winning titles left, right, and center. Although Nekole still keeps in tip-top shape, she switched things up a little and now works as an intensive care nurse in Florida.

RAVEN

RAVEN

Real Name: Sherilyn Godreau
Years Active: 1997 – 1998
Est. Net Worth: $30,000*

Some Gladiators swoop in to stay on the show for years, but some only stay for a season. Sherilyn “Raven” Godreau was one of the latter. The star never made it onto our screens, but fans of the live shows would’ve seen her perform in American Gladiators Orlando Live. Aside from this lucrative opportunity, Godreau has made an impact elsewhere.

Among other titles, Raven has been named Ms. Florida Fitness America, Ms. Pro National, Ms. Tampa Bay, Ms. North Florida, and Ms. St Petersburg. You could say she’s somewhat of a local hero in the Florida bodybuilding scene. Godreau still competes but gets a steady paycheck as the manager of the Serenity Fitness Center in Orlando.

STEALTH

STEALTH

Real Name: Tanji Johnson
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $125,000*

Though she be but small, she is fierce! Tanji “Stealth” Johnson got a particularly fitting nickname when she joined American Gladiators in 2008. At a tiny 5’3”, Stealth was able to sneak up on her opponents and dart around like a little powerbomb. Since leaving the show, her career has gained traction.

Aside from taking part in numerous competitions like All-Star Pro Fitness, Emerald Cup, and Toronto Fitness Classic, Johnson also continues to work as a personal trainer. There’s no one more qualified than her to whip people into shape. Tanji also writes for numerous fitness magazines, imparting her wisdom.

HURRICANE

HURRICANE

Real Name: Breaux Greer
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $450,000*

It’s not very often that you get an Olympian as a Gladiator. Breaux “Hurricane” Greer may have had hair that made him seem like he’d been electrocuted, but he had more talent in his pinky than most of us have in our entire bodies. The Texan athlete has represented the US at three Olympic Games, throwing the javelin.

While sports fans might remember him for his strong throw, Gladiator fans will remember him for his ability to defeat Contenders in less than 4 seconds. He was also a Powerball champion. Hurricane is truly a jewel in the crown of the franchise.

PHOENIX

PHOENIX

Real Name: Jennifer Widerstrom
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $500,000*

Jennifer “Phoenix” Widestrom came in like a wrecking ball, with pink hair and an attitude that matched her impressive nickname. Widerstrom signed on for the second season of American Gladiators in 2008 and hasn’t looked back since. After changing tracks and becoming a personal trainer, she became one of TV’s biggest fitness experts.

In 2014, Widerstrom took over as the trainer on The Biggest Loser when Jillian Michaels left and has since appeared on The Talk, Extra, E, ET, and Access Hollywood. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. If that weren’t enough, Jennifer also dedicates time to charities.

ROCKET

ROCKET

Real Name: Evan Dollard
Years Active: 2008 (as a Contender and Gladiator)
Est. Net Worth: $150,000*

There aren’t many Gladiators that have played both sides of the fence. Evan “Rocket” Dollard first appeared as a Contender on season one of American Gladiators. Impressively, he was the only male to succeed in his efforts during that stint. Producers were so impressed that they invited him to be a fully-fledged Gladiator.

As well as starring on Gladiators, Dollard also performed on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior a total of four times. He has also hosted shows on ESPN and runs his own YouTube channel. NBC like Dollard so much that they keep giving him work.

JET

JET

Real Name: Monica Carlson
Years Active: 2008 (as a Contender and Gladiator)
Est. Net Worth: $225,000*

Jet had everything it takes to be a successful Gladiator, from stunning good looks to impressive strength thanks to her history as a dancer. As one of 11 kids, Monica Carlson grew up battling it out at home. She landed a spot as Gladiator after impressing the entire crew as a Contender.

Prior to starring on the show Jet was a dancer for the Portland Trail Blazers. She has also been part of campaigns for Under Armour, Nike, Adidas, and Athleta. Carlson continues to work as a personal trainer and fitness advisor in Oregon.

SIREN

Sirens go off at unpredictable times, and Valerie Waugaman was no different. As soon as she got out there she was smashing Contenders and giving zero figs about any of it. The Ohio-born native has a strong history in sports, making her perfect Gladiator material. Like many of her fellow Gladiators, Waugaman is incredibly active in the fitness world.

As well as focusing on the physical side of things, the brunette beauty has made a name for herself as a high-performance life coach and motivational speaker. When she isn’t spreading the wellness message, she’s living in Ohio with her husband and their daughter, Trinity.

STEEL

STEEL

Real Name: Erin Toughil
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $310,000*

Imagine signing up as Contender only to be faced with Steel, a highly-trained mixed martial artist that knows how to kick your butt in several different languages. When it comes to fitness, agility, and core strength, Erin “Steel” Toughil was the one to beat.

She was once the top female MMA fighter in the world before she retired a year before joining the Gladiator family in 2008. Since leaving the show, she has set up shop in Costa Mesa, California as a trainer at American Gym. She’s one of the most in-demand trainers at the venue.

HELLGA

HELLGA

Real Name: Robin Coleman
Years Active: 2007 – 2008
Est. Net Worth: $225,000*

Robin “Hellga” Coleman has the distinction of being a 6’1” 205 Ibs powerhouse with a Nordic persona to match. Billed as the Viking that would crush contenders to a pulp, Hellga did just what she said on the tin. The Texas-born star frequently beat out the competition in many bodybuilding events throughout the latter half of the ‘90s.

By the time she landed a spot on the show, Coleman was no stranger to television, having been part of VIP. In 2008 she was cast as Tanya in Days of Our Lives and featured in the movie Madea Goes to Jail. You could say she was a multi-talented threat.

ZEN

ZEN

Real Name: Xin Sarith Wuku
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $175,000*

When Xin Sarith Wuku auditioned for producers, he held nothing back. By this point, the martial artist knew how good he was. He rocked up wearing Converse and a ninja mask, coupled with a sword and a pocket of magic dust. “I do my thing, I’m yelling, kicking, flipping, screaming,” admitted Wuku. Producers loved him.

After starring as a Gladiator, Xin continued to work in the industry in various different ways. As well as being a stunt coordinator and a dancer, he’s also an actor. Wuku even got to meet his idol Jackie Chan, who told him to “Get out there and make something of yourself!”

JUSTICE

JUSTICE

Real Name: Jesse Smith
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $275,000*

You wouldn’t want to come up against Jesse “Justice” Smith, that’s for sure. At a towering 6’8” and weighing over 290 Ibs, Justice had a mean streak that saw everyone quaking in their boots. Not only was Smith a Gladiator, but also a wrestler for WWE. He’s also an actor.

As well as starring in Like Mike, Smith’s credits include Gilmore Girls, Blood and Bone, NCIS: Los Angeles and Thor. Tina Turner even picked him, alongside Zin Sarith Wuku, to perform martial arts on her 2009 tour. It makes sense seeing as he has a 3rd-degree black belt and is a qualified Khmer kickboxing trainer.

ELECTRA (the second)

ELECTRA

Real Name: Suzanne Powers
Years Active: 1997 – 1998
Est. Net Worth: $50,000*

Brunette bombshell Suzanne Powers only briefly appeared on the original show from 1997-1998. Her stay was fleeting, but she gave it her best shot. Sadly, Powers won’t go down in history as one of the best Gladiators of all time, but she wasn’t exactly the worst either. Unlike some of her buddies, she retired from the limelight after her stint.

It’s not immediately clear what Powers is up to these days, but she was working for the Palm Beach Fire Department in Florida for some time following on from the series. Perhaps she’s still kicking it with them and putting her impressive skills to good use saving lives!

COBRA

COBRA

Real Name: Steve Luxton
Years Active: 1997
Est. Net Worth: $425,000*

Cobras are fierce animals that are ready to strike at any given moment. It just makes sense that English Gladiator Steve Luxton landed that nickname. Although he showed great promise, Luxton’s time on the show came to an end when he badly injured his shoulder.

Prior to becoming a Gladiator, Luxton was crowned Mr. Exeter three times. His passion has always been Speedway racing, so it only made sense when he opened a Speedway garage museum called Cobra’s Garage Mahal in Florida. Cobra continues to live the dream alongside his wife and their two kids.

FLASH

FLASH

Real Name: Steven Caropelo
Years Active: 1992 (as a Contender), 1996 – 1998
Est. Net Worth: $35,000*

Not many male Gladiators had long, flowing locks of hair. Probably because it slowed them down. However, Steven “Flash” Caropelo certainly didn’t let his preferred hairstyle hinder him in the live shows. Originally, Caropelo appeared as a referee for the Orlando Live shows, stepping in as a Gladiator when Viper sustained an injury.

Flash was largely known for his speed and his ability to climb The Wall faster than Yogi Bear searching for a picnic basket. He had a knack for getting the audience going. In the days since his life on the lie shows, Carpelo has settled into a role as a yoga teacher and personal trainer.

VENOM

VENOM

Real Name: Beth Horn
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $245,000*

Beth “Venom” Horn was certainly as deadly as she looked. Horn stayed on the show for two seasons, becoming a firm fan favorite. Viewers loved to see how amazing she was at Hang Tough and The Wall, while Contenders didn’t have a chance.

Aside from her appearance on Gladiators, Horn has acted in several TV shows and movies, including Quantum Leap and Fancypants. She is married to Bruce Butler and runs her own review site called HotReviews4U.com, while still working as a personal trainer, a model, and a fitness writer.

MILITIA

MILITIA

Real Name: Alex Castro
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $75,000*

Cuban-born Alex Castro has one of the most interesting backstories of any Gladiator. When he was crossing from Cuba to Miami, the boat he was on capsized. Three of the six men on board perished, including one that was Castro’s cousin. Less than five years later, he was spotted by an NBC scout when he was performing at a charity event.

Castro’s credits have been few and far between since the show, but Militia continues to live and work in the City of Angels. His biggest aspiration is to honor those that were lost that day when he came from Cuba to the US by being able to tell his story.

TANK

TANK

Real Name: Reggie Biegler
Years Active: 1996 – 1998
Est. Net Worth: $360,000*

With a name like Tank, Reggie Biegler was able to steamroll across his opponents in a hot second. Reggie had no fear when it came to throwing himself in at the deep end to beat those that dare to challenge him. As a former Army vet, he was unshakable and even continued to perform once with a broken finger.

Since leaving the show behind, Biegler turned everything he knew into a successful career as a conditioning specialist, nutritionist, and food consultant. He also went the extra mile to help those in need and qualified as a life coach for those with special needs and disabilities.

QUAKE

QUAKE

Real Name: Sean Maloney
Years Active: 1996 – 1998
Est. Net Worth: $235,000*

Scouts were always on the lookout for new Gladiators, even if it meant looking inside their own offices. Sean Maloney was busy working in the administration department as a clerk at the American Gladiators Orlando Live shows when production spotted him and asked him if he wanted to audition. The answer was yes.

Before he knew it, Sean Maloney became Quake and he spent the next two years beating people to a pulp. This stint on the show also introduced him to fellow Gladiator, Flame. Sparks flew and the two fell in love, going on to get married and live happily ever after in wedded bliss.

PANTHER (the Second)

PANTHER

Real Name: Corinne van Ryck de Groot
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $275,000*

She jumped like no one else, had stealth like no one else, could rule the roost like no one else. Corinne van Ryck de Groot, aka Panther, knew how to use her incredible speed and agility to her advantage. On top of all that, Panther had a knock-out punch as a professional female boxer that had been bouncing in the ring since 1998.

As well as a stint on Gladiators, de Groot has starred in multiple shows like The Next Action Star, Bet Your Life, Heroes, Lost, and The Ghost Whisperer. These days, she keeps herself as fit as ever by continuing to practice her favorite sports.

TOA

TOA

Real Name: Tanoai Reed
Years Active: 2008
Est. Net Worth: $550,000*

For Tanoai “Toa” Reed, being a Gladiator was just a small part of his career. Producers took advantage of his Maori ancestry to come up with a mysterious persona for the star, but his allure was already there. Interestingly, Toa is the cousin of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Over the last 20 years, Toa has made a name for himself as one of the best stuntmen Hollywood has ever seen. He’s starred in hits like Skyscraper, The Avengers, Iron Man 2, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fast & Furious 6, and more. He’s the one to beat when it comes to throwing yourself off a building.
