Last Straw

Jeremy was sick and tired of the same thing every day. He had been through a lot of pain in his life, but this was just ridiculous. It was like torture. Every day, there was something new to find in his backyard.

“What’s here today?” He sarcastically said to himself as he walked towards the garbage. This time, there was a left shoe and an umbrella, among other useless items.

At His Limit

The man was now at his limit. He had tried talking to his neighbors, but he could tell that they weren’t going to do anything about it. He’d beg them to control their children, but it was all for nothing.

He crouched down and held his head in his hands. This had to be the last time they took advantage of him. He needed to teach them a lesson.

A Plan

Jeremy walked back into his house and went straight to his workshop. With each step he took, a plan started to formulate in his head. Everyone around him had severely underestimated what he could do.

If they knew what kind of background the middle-aged man had, then they would have been shaking in their boots. Instead, they poked the wrong bear.

“That doesn’t sound like my kids,” She said with a frown. “It must be someone else dumping their things in your yard. Jeremy felt himself balling his fists, but he stopped himself from doing anything drastic.

“I know it’s them. Please just talk to them about it,” Jeremy said before heading back home. He couldn’t look at the woman for another second. He didn’t want to lose his temper.

He could hear the commotion happening over the fence. He knew the children were ducking and diving in an attempt to not get hit.

But, luckily, it wasn’t dangerous objects he was flinging at them. It was just light stuff.

But that didn’t matter to the children’s parents. They were overprotective of the children, and for all they cared, Jeremy was now their enemy. They watched with angry eyes as the objects flew through the air. 

Who did this man think he was? As far as they were concerned, their children were young and didn’t know any better. They couldn’t believe that a grown man would act this way.

Pile Of Trash 

The concerned parents ran around the yard, desperately trying to collect the garbage from around their yard. Slowly but surely, they created a small pile of trash, but it was still raining down around them.

“Stop!” The mother yelled over the wall, her blood boiling at this point. But Jeremy wasn’t going to stop until every last piece of garbage was taken care of.

Enraged 

In a fit of rage, the father began chucking a few of the items back over, just for Jeremy to launch them over again. There was no winning. Trash was raining down on them faster than they could pick it up.

Over the last little while, the kids had tossed so much trash over the wall, it was unbelieve to see just how much of it Jeremy had collected. 

Horror 

The enraged mother made her children head back inside their home as she and her husband continued cleaning the mess. But as she took a step back and stared at her house, her face twisted in horror.

It was worse than she thought. Noticing the expression on his wife’s face, the man turned to see what she was looking at. His jaw dropped. 

All Over 

Not only was their yard full of trash, but it had landed all over their house. Some of it was even stuck in the trees. They couldn’t believe that their neighbor would stoop so low, but it was far from over. 

Jeremy was committed. He wasn’t going to stop until his yard was spotless. These people couldn’t keep getting away with this. 

Sending Everything Back

Jeremy cocked the thick rope once more, which kept the device under tension, and looked at the heaps of garbage still around him. He carefully picked up as much as he could carry and laid it on the device.

After a moment of silence, he pulled a lever and let all the tension of the device go. He watched as garbage soared high through the air.

Return To Sender

The garbage flew higher than he anticipated, and it easily flew over his wall. He couldn’t believe his contraption had worked so well. He took another heap of garbage and sent it over.

It felt as if he was an artilleryman and kept sending more and more garbage back. The sheer amount was horrifying. It was weeks worth of their bad decisions that he sent back all at once.

Repercussions

In a matter of minutes, everything that had been thrown in his yard was now gone. He couldn’t believe his catapult was so reliable. But he had no idea that it would have its own repercussions.

He glanced around his yard with a smirk on his face. Finally, after weeks of collecting the children’s trash, it was no longer his parents.

Listening 

From where he was standing, he could hear the woman and her husband. They were angrily ordering each other around, trying to clean the mess Jeremy had made. With a smile on his face, he walked away from the wall.

He went back into his house to enjoy a cold beer and celebrate his victory. But the celebration would be cut short by a banging on his door. 

Angry Neighbor

Jeremy immediately knew who it was. He answered the door to the very same woman he’d pleaded with before. This time, she was the angry one, and she didn’t have the courtesy to hide it.

He tried his best to suppress his smug satisfaction as he folded his arms across his chest and waited for her to say something.

Cool, Calm, And Collected.

The woman immediately began yelling at Jeremy. She was beyond angry and frustrated, but he remained cool, calm, and collected. Listening intently to the enraged woman.

“You threw garbage over your fence and into our yard. It’s not only on the lawn but on our roof. How are we supposed to get rid of that?” she said through flared nostrils. Jeremy smiled.

Confrontation

The woman was seeing red. Her husband came soon after. “What do you think you’re doing?” the father yelled, his face flushed with anger.

“What gives you the right to do that to our property?” The husband yelled into his face, but Jeremy suspected that they would react like this. But that didn’t mean that he was going to stoop down to their level.

Not In The Wrong

Jeremy let the man say his piece, patiently waiting for his opportunity to speak. He knew that he wasn’t in the wrong. His neighbors had refused to help him with the problem. What else was he supposed to do?

Jeremy maintained his cool demeanor. “I tried to talk to you about this issue, but you ignored me. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands.” Both of them were seething.

Not Good Enough

But his reasoning wasn’t good enough for the couple. They were selfish people who didn’t care about the fact that their children’s actions had upset the man. 

“They are children, you are the adult. You had no right to do this to our family!” The woman shouted. Jeremy was getting angry again. How could these people be so selfish?

The Ultimatum

The confrontation escalated quickly, with heated words exchanged between Jeremy and the enraged parents. Jeremy stood his ground, refusing to back down.

“I’ve had enough of your kids’ nonsense,” he declared, his voice unwavering. “Either you teach them some manners, or this won’t be the last time they receive a garbage shower.”

More Upset

He wasn’t going to let these people intimidate him. He hadn’t done anything to harm them or their family, he had simply given them what they had given him. He wasn’t afraid of the consequences of his actions. 

The man and woman got even more upset when he threatened to do it again. Not once did they assure him that they would tell the children to stop what they were doing. It seemed that they hadn’t learned their lesson.

Calling The Cops

The two of them stared at each other and then back at Jeremy. It looked like they were about to mow him down. “You can’t do this. I will call the cops,” the father threatened.

He looked at Jeremy with threatening eyes, but he was messing with the wrong man. Jeremy wasn’t going to let this slide.

A Threat

A cocky grin spread across Jeremy’s face as he folded his arms across his chest. The man had expected him to be afraid, but he wasn’t. In fact, he encouraged him to call the police.

“Go ahead, please call them. Because I’ve been wanting to call them on your kids, but I held back to keep the peace,” Jeremy reiterated.

Make Me

This angered the duo even further. “If you don’t pick up the garbage you threw over our fence, I’m gonna make you do it,” the father said with bulging veins and eyes.

Jeremy wasn’t fazed in the slightest, in fact, he had to stop himself from laughing in the man’s face. Who did this guy think he was? He clearly wasn’t getting the point of Jeremy’s actions.

No Respect

Jeremy was ready for them. “Well, I asked your kids to pick up the garbage in my backyard, and they didn’t. If you want to dispute this, I have everything on my security camera for evidence.”

The couple were speechless, and he knew what this meant. Surely, they knew that they were in the wrong. All Jeremy wanted was for the family next door to respect him and his house, but they didn’t.

Insisting

Jeremy could see their faces change dramatically. They even backed away slightly, but they still weren’t giving up. They insisted that Jeremy pick up the garbage.

But Jeremy stood his ground. It was time for them to apologize for the children’s terrible behavior and their lack of accountability. But would they even apologize? In their minds, they did nothing wrong.

Jeremy’s lips curved into a smile as he said, “That doesn’t sound like me. I would never do anything like that,” He said, parroting what she had said about her kids when they were the ones throwing the garbage.

“Now, it doesn’t really matter how that garbage ended up on whose property. What matters is whose garbage it really is. I assure you if you check, you’ll see it’s yours.” He said in a serious tone.

“If you try to call the authorities, I promise they’ll come to that conclusion, too. So just clean it up or get your kids to clean it.” Jeremy explained.

Lesson Learned

The woman didn’t reply. All she did was spin on her heel and storm away in a huff. Jeremy smiled and closed his door. He sat back down and enjoyed his cold beer. But something dramatic happened.

Over the next few days, he noticed that no more garbage was being spilled into his yard. The neighbor knew he’d send it right back. A lesson was finally learned.
