Nobody’s Listening

The little girl shouted and cried, “You never listen to me!” A nasty scratch was visible on her knee, and it was bleeding. She was intentionally pushed down by her brother. She always had to deal with mean brothers.

It felt as if she was the black sheep of the family. It didn’t matter to her father, and he had never taken her side. It was as though he was blind to it all.

Before anyone could witness her outburst, he grabbed her and pulled her to the side.

New Beginnings

Originally from Orlando, Florida, Steven Adams loved his second wife, Sandra, and his new family.

He was devoted to his two sons. His past mistakes were many, but he strived to be a better man now.

It was all going smoothly for Steven until he received a little gift from his first wife Louis – a beautiful daughter named Annabelle. Steven knew nothing about Annabelle, who was nine years old.

Not A Good Father

Annabelle’s father, Steven, was a bad father. Her birthday was often forgotten by him and he never bothered to visit her. Taking care of his new family was all that mattered to him.

It was better for him to keep his distance rather than cause any problems.

When Steven saw what had happened, he ran over to investigate. His wife Sandra must have incited the boys in their behavior. As much as he wanted them to get along, he was keeping them apart.

Annabelle’s presence irritated Sandra more and more. It felt like Annabelle was ruining her vacation and was a burden.

Sandra’s car pulled up a safe distance away. She watched how Steven hugged Louis and Annabelle.

It was like they were one big happy family.

Her eyes were a burning fury when she witnessed her husband hugging his ex-wife. She bawled her fists and drove off at a blistering speed down the road.

Trouble At The Door

As soon as Steven left, Sandra made her back to Louis’ house. She was hell-bent on giving her a piece of her mind. 

Steven was blissfully unaware of the altercation taking place while he drove home.

He had no idea what Sandra was doing behind his back. It would change the dynamic of his relationship forever.

She banged on the door, and just when Louis opened it, she started screaming.

Louis seemed taken aback by the sudden assault and nearly burst into tears.

But Sandra wasn’t going to let her off the hook so easily. “You keep your grubby hands off of my husband, or you’ll have me to deal with!” She shouted in her face infront of Annabelle.

Before Louis could say or do anything, Sandra was gone.

It seemed that Sandra didn’t want to give Louis a chance to defend herself. Instead, she took the cowardly way out.

She sped away so fast that she thought someone was surely going to get hit by her car. Louis stood stunned, but then she heard a noise behind her.

Annabelle stood crying by the staircase.

She felt like she was the cause of all the adults fighting. Louis held onto her while telling her it wasn’t her fault.

The little girl seemed to blame herself for everything that had just happened. It would surely leave a lasting impression on the girl. That’s when Louis decided to fight back.

Calling Steven

She quickly got Steven on the line.

She wasn’t going to allow his wife to come to her house and threaten her and Annabelle. It was unacceptable behavior.

She expected her ex-husband to reply so that she could try and sort this problem out. But she had no idea how deep Sandra’s deviousness ran.

But when the person who answered heard it was her, the line went dead.

Louis had just about enough of Sandra’s ridiculous behavior. She had another plan.

She knew that there was going to be a confrontation, but what else could she do? She had to lookout for her child and make sure that this ended as soon as possible.

No More Drama

She strapped Annabelle into the car, and they made their way to Steven’s house. She was going to settle this war once and for all. She wasn’t even interested in Steven anymore.

She just wanted peace and for everyone to act like decent human beings around the children.

Louis hated what this had become. She wanted no part of this drama.

When she pulled up to their driveway, she was pleased to see that Steven was indeed home.

She knocked on the door. But, of course, they were greeted by an angry-looking Sandra.

Sandra’s face went pale. She didn’t expect Louis to have the guts to come to her house and confront her the way she had done moments ago.

What Are You Doing?

 

“What are you doing at my house?” she shrieked. If Louis didn’t know better, she thought she was looking at the devil itself.

With her flared nostrils and her red face, it was clear there would be no resolution.

No wonder Annabelle referred to her as the evil stepmother. She felt sorry that her daughter had to spend days with this woman.

Front Door Fury

But just as Louis was about to state her case, they were saved by Steven’s presence.

He demanded to know what was going on at his front door.

He pushed past Sandra and looked straight into Lous’ eyes. He seemed confused more than anything else. But when he learned the truth, would everything be okay?

Explaining Things

 

Of course, Sandra quickly explained her version of events. But Steven soon saw through her lies.

He found it hard to believe that Sandra was the innocent party in all of this.

He looked at Louis and seemed pained to have to pick a side. But then he saw his daughter’s tear stained face waiting inside the car. He knew who was the guilty party.

An Ultimatum

When Steven finally heard that Sandra threatened Louis on her doorstep, he was livid. He had had just about enough of Sandra’s jealousy.

It was a hard decision, but he gave her an ultimatum.

Either he accepts that Annabelle and Louis would be a part of their lives, or he would leave. And he was dead serious about it.

A Solution?

Steven could see the fear in Sandra’s eyes. She reluctantly opened the door and welcomed Louis and Annabelle inside to have a talk to try to resolve everything. It seemed like Steven had talked to his sons, too, because they were much nicer to Annabelle as well.

They were able to have a civil conversation and even drew up a roster for Steven for when he needed to spend quality time with Annabelle. It would remain to be seen if everything worked out in the end.
