Delivery Driver Sees Familiar Name On Package And Takes Revenge

Her Name On It

The package he chose from the load in the truck initially gave him a mega-watt smile, but he had no idea what the day had in store for him.

The package had his new girlfriend’s name on it, and he was going to surprise her by ringing the bell and handing it over to her personally.

But not all was as it seemed.

Delivering The Package

He eagerly rang the doorbell and waited for her to open up. But then, to his dismay, someone else was standing there. He signed off the package and walked back to his truck.

He thought she would be home today. But instead, he was greeted by an unexpected face. Todd had a lot of questions.

Did he have the correct address, or was something else going on?

Loved His Job

Todd Emerson loved his job. He got to drive all around Chicago, delivering precious packages to their owners.

But sometimes, the job could be very demanding, and it left no time for him to have much of a social life.

Not only that, he was a single guy, and he wanted to find the right woman to finally settle down with.

Looking For Mrs. Right

When he did have time to socialize with friends, they usually hung out in restaurants and bars in the hopes of finding a suitable partner for Todd.

And it wasn’t long before Todd saw the woman of his dreams sitting right by the bar.

To him, she was beautiful with long blonde hair and big blue eyes.

Dream Girl

Todd wasted no time in going up to her. He bought her a few drinks, and they chatted the night away. Her name was Candice Smith, and Todd knew he wanted to see her again.

So they exchanged numbers and met up a few more times just for drinks, but Todd was longing for a proper date.

He wanted to see where they could take this.

Sleepless Night

That night, Todd lay in his bed, unable to fall asleep. All he could think about was Candice and how they had talked like they had known each other their whole lives.

Todd couldn’t wait to call her to set up a date with her.

But little did he know that Candice was not who she was portrayed to be.

Texting First Thing

The next day, he texted her first thing in the morning, not bothered if it made him look a little desperate in his approach. But to his delight, he didn’t have to wait very long for a response from her.

“I’d love to see you tonight!” the message read. Todd could’ve jumped for joy if he wasn’t in the presence of his colleagues at work.

If only he knew what was coming.

Counting Down The Hours

As his day dragged on, all he could think about was seeing Candice that night. He counted down the long hours of the day as he hastily drove through the streets of Chicago.

He finally had something to look forward to, he thought.

Gone were the days of having lonely TV dinners all by himself.

On A Mission To Impress

As soon as the clock struck five, he jumped into his car and raced home. He had only 30 minutes to get himself date-ready. He was on a mission to impress Candice.

He looked at himself in the mirror one last time, and then he was out of the door.

He couldn’t wait to see Candice, and he was going to ask her to officially be his girlfriend.

Gorgeous

As he had expected, Candice looked drop-dead gorgeous for their date, and he hoped he had made an impression on her. He guessed that he had because she was smiling from ear to ear.

But as they were enjoying their meal, Candice’s phone kept ringing and buzzing with endless messages.

She looked a little uncomfortable and apologized for the inconvenience.

On Cloud Nine

But Todd didn’t mind. His head was in the clouds, and he couldn’t believe that a beautiful woman such as Candice would be willing to give him a shot.

He just didn’t know why she was so distracted and wasn’t paying much attention to their date.

Her phone was ringing nonstop, and at that point, Todd became concerned.

Taking A Call

“Is everything alright? Seems like someone is trying very hard to get hold of you. Why don’t you answer? I don’t mind,” he said. He could see the gratitude in her eyes.

“Thanks. It’s work. I won’t be long,” she replied and dashed off to the balcony of the restaurant.

Todd didn’t think that anything was wrong. He had no reason to think that.

Is Everything Okay?

She returned to the table, and Todd immediately noticed a change in her demeanor. She seemed distant and didn’t want to talk to him as much.

“Is everything okay? Did you receive bad news?” he asked her. She looked down at her hands, not wanting to say anything.

Todd assumed that something was wrong.

I Need To Go

“Um, yeah. I have to get going. I need to finish some work things that I left for tomorrow, but it seems to be urgent. So I have to take a rain check,” she said.

Then she kissed Todd on the cheek and walked out of the restaurant.

By now, Todd was left confused. He didn’t know what to think.

A Bad Feeling

He picked up the bill and left the restaurant with his head hung low. He hoped that Candice would contact him and let him know that everything was fine.

But he had a bad feeling about it. Something just didn’t feel right.

Throughout the whole evening, she was very distracted, and he didn’t even get to ask her to be his girlfriend.

Worried

That night, he once again didn’t have a good night’s rest. But this time, he was more worried than excited. He kept thinking about whether he would ever see Candice again.

She didn’t even text him that night. Had he lost his dream girl already?

The girl he didn’t even ask to be his, to begin with?

A Bad Day

The following morning, Todd awoke with a bitter taste in his mouth. He was not pleased with how their date had ended. He was disappointed that he didn’t get to ask her the question. 

He couldn’t understand what was so important that she had to leave right away.

He rolled out of bed, unaware that that day would reveal the horrible truth about the girl he had fallen for. 

A Commitment 

Todd slowly made his way toward the kitchen and prepared himself a pot of coffee. He leaned against the counter and stared at his phone. The text he had sent her the night before hadn’t even been read yet.

He wanted to call her and ask what was going on, but it was way too early for that.

He made a commitment to himself: if he didn’t have a reply by 12 p.m., he would call her. 

Coming On Too Strong

He wondered if he was coming on too strong. He’d heard of girls faking phone calls to get out of dates. Was that the case with Candice? He knew that thoughts of the girl would be swirling around his mind all day.

 He stepped out of the kitchen and made his way toward his bedroom. He had to shake her from his head and get ready for work. 

A Work Day

He reluctantly got dressed for work. It would be another full day of driving around the city and delivering packages. Usually, he didn’t mind his job, but on this day, he just wanted to stay in and think things through. 

When he got to work, he avoided his colleagues.

Usually, he would hang out with them for a bit before deliveries started, but he was in a terrible mood. 

In Love

He was developing feelings for this woman, and he was starting to wonder how she truly felt. She never really opened up about herself, and that seemed a little suspicious to Todd.

He knew nothing about her family or where she worked. All he knew was that she lived pretty far away and that her only roommates were her two cats.

At least, that’s what she’d told him.

Unread

He checked his cell phone once again. They had been messaging each other on WhatsApp. She still hadn’t opened his message from the night before, but when he clicked on her name, he was surprised to find that she was online.

Was she ignoring his texts or was she just busy? He stared at the small ‘Online’ status below her name until it disappeared. He felt like he was going to be sick.

Why wouldn’t she respond?

Dating History

Todd felt ridiculous. His friends and family always made fun of his dating history. He was known to fall head over heels in love with girls, just for them not to feel the same about him. 

He shook his head. He didn’t want to keep thinking about it. He wanted to give Candice the benefit of the doubt. Maybe there truly was an emergency at work.

He quickly made his way to his delivery truck.

Something Didn’t Feel Right

He strapped himself in and took a deep breath. He couldn’t deny that something about the previous night didn’t seem right to him.

Her entire demeanor changed after that phone call. Was it really just work? He liked her so much and he didn’t want to admit it to himself, but something didn’t feel right.

Why would she have to leave for work after hours? By the end of that day, he would finally know the truth, but unfortunately for Todd, the sinister truth would break his heart and destroy his trust.

Unexpected

He was having a terrible day, and not hearing from her made it even worse for him. He started the car, his mind clouded by her.

He’d never felt so blue before. He was disappointed that the night had turned so sour, but his day was about to get a thousand times worse.

Before he knew it, he was stopped in front of the first address of the day. He handed the package over to the new owner and made them sign it off, but that’s when he noticed the next package on his list. It would lead him to the terrible truth.

Her Name

At first, he didn’t think much of it. It was a small package, and he easily could’ve missed it. But as he picked it up, he saw the name on it.

He did a doubt take, just to ensure that he got the name right. 

His heart raced as he read out the name:  Candice Smith. It was a fairly common name, but he hoped it was the girl he’d been dreaming about. But soon, these dreams would turn into nightmares.

The Girl

Despite the uneasy feeling in his stomach, his heart fluttered. She was bad news, but he couldn’t help but fall for her. He knew that she was lying about something, but he wanted nothing more than to see her again. 

This was the sign he had been waiting for. He checked the contact number, and sure enough, it belonged to the girl he saw the night before.

He glanced at the address and frowned. Could that be her address? He now knew where she lived, and he was going to go there.

Going Through With It

He wondered if it was the right address. She briefly mentioned that she lived pretty far away. He shrugged it offHow would she react if he just showed up at her house? Would she be glad to see him? Would she think it was creepy? He was hesitant at first, but he wanted to see her. 

Their date had ended so suddenly and he wanted to see if she was okay. He was hoping for an explanation or an apology, but that was not what he was about to receive.

He decided to go through with it, not knowing what he was about to walk into.

Determined

He took a deep breath. His day was finally looking up. He knew she worked from home, and he was sure it would be a pleasant surprise to see him on her doorstep.

He started the engine, determined to get to her on her lunch break. He hoped they could talk about her leaving so abruptly on their date the previous night.

But Todd had no idea what sinister truth lay behind her front door.

A Plan

But before he could drive to her house, he had to make one stop along the way. He couldn’t help but grin to himself as he made his way through the busy streets. This was perfect, he thought. 

He was going to show up at her doorstep, hand over the package, and ask if he could come in for a cup of coffee.

Then he was going to finally ask her to be his girlfriend, and if all went well, he would leave her with a kiss goodbye. If only it had gone that way.

Red Roses

Before long, he stopped at his desired location. He’d decided to stop at the best florist in town.

He wanted to surprise her with red roses and a box of chocolates which were both things she’d mentioned liking. 

When he stepped into the store, his eyes instantly landed on the perfect bouquet of vibrant, red roses. It was perfect. 

Rushing Into Things

He knew that he always rushed into things when it came to girls, but this just felt perfect. Candice was a little sketchy, but she also had some of the coolest qualities he had ever seen in a woman. 

She was the type of person he could see himself growing old with. He just hoped she felt the same way.

But little did he know that she would not be the person to answer the door.

The Universe 

Once he’d grabbed everything he needed, he headed back to his delivery truck. He had to hurry if he wanted to get there in time for his lunch break.

He started the vehicle and continued on his journey. He thought this was a sign.

What were the chances that he would be asked to deliver her package? Perhaps the universe wanted them to end up together.

A Lie

He drove through many familiar streets. Todd had no idea that she lived so close. During one of their first dates, she made it sound like she lived far away. This confused him, but he tried not to read too much into it. 

Her house was only a few blocks from the bar where he had met her. But why would she lie about that? Did she not trust him? But there was far more to this story than Todd ever could’ve imagined.

Thinking About It

As he drove through the familiar streets, he tried hard not to think about it too much, but he couldn’t stop. He hated being lied to, especially when it wasn’t necessary. 

Todd knew that something fishy was going on, but he was a hopeless romantic who wanted to see the best in everyone, especially Candice.

She was beautiful and funny, who could blame him?

Worth Fighting For

Perhaps he could talk to her about it. Surely she would be reasonable enough to discuss the matter with him. Her lie wasn’t a dealbreaker, but that didn’t mean he liked it either. 

But this was no day for confrontation. He had woken up sour and angry, and now, his day was taking a positive turn. He knew that it would all be worth it in the end. She was worth fighting for, or so he thought.

Throw It Away

He thought about the night before. She looked so beautiful, and although she only stayed for a little while, he had the best time with her.

Did he really want to throw something like this away over a little white lie?

Finally, he managed to shake the heavy feeling from his chest. She was the girl he wanted to be with. He smiled to himself just thinking about her. 

Getting Ready

Before he knew it, he stopped at the address. But before he could step out of the vehicle, he had to ensure that he looked presentable.

Glancing in the rearview mirror, he combed his fingers through his hair.

It took longer than expected, but eventually, it was styled neatly atop his head. But he wasn’t done just yet.

Too Desperate

Reaching into the passenger side door, he removed a small bottle of cologne and applied it to his neck. His work uniform wasn’t the best looking, but it would have to do for now. 

Butterflies were swirling around his stomach as he grabbed the roses from beside him. He hoped it didn’t seem too desperate.

He wanted to impress her and he wanted to show her that she mattered. 

All Planned Out

He quickly hopped out and grabbed the package that had her name on it. This was his chance to finally get through to her.

He wanted to impress her and show her that he was the man for her. He wanted to be with her, and he wanted to start their lives together. Was that too much to ask?

He just wanted to be loved. But his heart was about to shatter in his chest.

Nervous

He didn’t know too much about the woman, but the little he did know sent butterflies swirling through his stomach. From the outside, Candice seemed like the perfect woman. 

His palms were sweaty and he couldn’t stop smiling as he approached her front door. He wondered how she’d react when she saw his face again.

He was hoping for the best when he should’ve been preparing for the worst.

The Moment

He eagerly rang the doorbell and waited for her to open up. He couldn’t wait to see her beautiful face and gorgeous blonde hair. He could hear movement behind the front door. 

She was approaching it. But when he heard the keys in the lock, his heart began racing.

He couldn’t wait to surprise her. He was going to ask her out on a date, and then make their relationship office. The door swung open. 

An Unexpected Face

But then, to his dismay, someone else was standing there. It was a tall, handsome man. Todd wondered if he had noticed the surprise on his face. “Hey,” The man greeted awkwardly with a cup of coffee in hand. 

“Uh, hi. I’m here to deliver a package.” Was all he could manage to say, trying to play it cool. He hoped the man couldn’t see the hesitance in his eyes.

But he noticed his eyes on the roses.

The Right Place

He checked the address again on the box. He was at the right place. “Cool, thanks,” The man nodded and grabbed the package from Todd’s hands. 

He had to resist the urge to ask the man who he was. Did Candice have a male roommate? He was beyond confused as he handed over a few papers.

“Are the roses included?” He asked, confused.

Roses

Todd panicked. All he could think to do was nod, “Uh, yeah. It’s part of some promotion at the company,” He lief through his teeth and handed the man the bouquet. 

“Man, these are some perfect roses. They must’ve cost the company a fortune,”  The unknown man laughed.

Todd tried to keep his expression neutral, but his smile was faltering.

Who Was He?

The man signed off the package and closed the door in Todd’s face. He slowly walked back to his truck, rubbing at the back of his neck.

He thought she would be home today. But instead, he was greeted by an unexpected face.

Todd had a lot of questions. Did she know the strange man, or was something else going on?

Something Went Wrong

He got back into his truck with a frown. Something wasn’t adding up.

Was the address wrong? Maybe Candice wasn’t lying, maybe she did live far away. He assumed that someone used to wrong address for the package. 

He quickly got out of his truck again. He wanted to resolve the issue. 

Thinking

He quickly jogged up the front porch steps once again, convincing himself that it was all just a misunderstanding. Things weren’t adding up, and he was going to fix them

He rang the doorbell once again and waited patiently. He tried to think about the night he met Candice.

He could’ve sworn she said that she lived on her own. 

Confusion

He was deep in his thoughts when the man opened the door again. “Hey man, did you forget something?” He asked without much emotion in his voice. 

Todd looked at him and then spoke up. “Uh, I just wanted to know if I had the correct address for Candice Smith,” he asked. 

The man looked at him with a confused expression.

A Revelation

“Um, yeah. Candice lives here. She’s just not home. My wife is out with her friends on a workday. Can you believe that?” he chuckled. He clearly had no idea who Todd was. 

“I’m helpless without my wife,” The man began oversharing, not noticing that Todd’s face had gone pale.

He couldn’t quite believe what the man had just said.

Unbelievable

Todd couldn’t believe it. His heart dropped as he stared the man right in the face. He had no idea that he was looking at the man his wife had been dating. 

He didn’t know what to say, so instead, he forced a laugh.

“Good luck man. Just wanted to make sure that I had the right place,” He smiled, but on the inside, he felt like he was going to be sick. 

Played For A Fool

“Thanks man, I appreciate it,” The man smiled. He was kind, and Todd hated that. He felt sorry for him.

He deserved better than a wife that would do something like this to him. 

He had to leave. He thanked the man and got into his vehicle. His day just went from bad to worse. Candice was playing him for a fool.

Heartbroken

He sat in his car for a second and watched as the man walked back into his house, completely unaware. Who did this woman think she was? How could she do this to both of them?

He blinked back tears as he stared down at his steering wheel. Everything was one big lie.

She didn’t live far, and she hadn’t gotten a call from work. He was heartbroken. 

Betrayed

Todd’s hands trembled on the steering wheel as he drove away from Candice’s supposed home. The revelation that she was married was a crushing blow.

He had thought he had found the woman of his dreams, someone to settle down with, but now he felt betrayed and foolish.

He wished he hadn’t met her in the first place.

An Idea

As he continued on his delivery route, Todd’s emotions swirled with a mix of anger and sadness. He couldn’t believe that Candice had led him on, making him believe that they had a future together.

He wanted to confront her, to demand an explanation, but he knew that wouldn’t end well.

But would it all be worth it in the end?

The Vengeful Plan

Instead, an idea began to form in Todd’s mind. He recalled the package he was planning on sending to her.

What if he used it to send her a message, to let her know that he was aware of her double life?

It was a daring plan, but the anger coursing through him fuelled his determination. He wanted to get back at her.

The Message

As the day went on, Todd finally arrived at his last delivery for the day. He couldn’t resist the temptation any longer.

He carefully opened the package he had intended to give Candice, and inside was a beautiful bouquet of roses.

He removed the bouquet, replaced it with a single red rose, and left a handwritten note that said, “For the woman who broke my heart.” Then, he resealed the package and sent it on its way.

A Bitter Smile

Todd watched as the delivery van pulled away, taking his message of betrayal to Candice. He couldn’t help but smile bitterly, feeling a strange sense of satisfaction in getting some form of revenge. He knew it was a small act, but it was all he had at that moment.

A few days later, Todd received a call from an unknown number. Hesitant but curious, he answered.

To his surprise, it was Candice on the other end of the line. She sounded both apologetic and desperate.

Candice’s Confession

Candice confessed everything to Todd. She explained that her marriage had been loveless for years, and she had been trying to find a way out of it. Meeting Todd had given her hope for a better future, but the timing was never right. She claimed she hadn’t meant to hurt him.

Todd listened to her with mixed emotions. He was still hurt and betrayed, but he could hear the sincerity in her voice.

In the end, he decided to forgive her, understanding that life could be complicated and messy.

Moving On

They agreed to remain friends and to see where life would take them. But he wouldn’t forget what Candice had done to him.

Todd had learned a valuable lesson about jumping to conclusions and taking revenge.

As he continued his job as a delivery driver, he hoped that one day he’d find a genuine love, free from hidden secrets and double lives.
