The first step is to let friends and family know about the date of the pending wedding. This can be done by sending out a save the date card. The pre-invitation card announces the date and location of the wedding and lets guests know in advance that they will be invited to the ceremony. It’s a great heads up so that guests can plan ahead and make arrangements in order for them to attend.

When to send out the save the date?

Ideally four to six months before the wedding date. However, if you’ve opted for a destination wedding, aim for eight months ahead of time as travel arrangements will need to be made and this will increase the chances of guests attending the celebration.

What to include on the save the date?

Always include details that your guests will need to plan ahead for the big day; the date, location and any website URL where more information can be found.
