The Best Song Parodies On YouTube!

In the dark ages of harmonious hilarity, there was only one outlet for song parodies — Weird Al. But, in case you’re not a huge fan of his Flintstone’s inspired send-up of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, we thought it would be good to apprise you of the advancements that have been made in the field. After all, with the immediate media culture we live in, fans are interacting with (and goofing upon) the most prominent artists in the recording field. And we’ve been watching quiet a few of these satirical and subversive salvos ourselves lately. So, we figured it was high time we released our top 5 YouTube Song Parodies! Enjoy!

5 The Key of Awesome’s “Call Me Maybe”

Everyone has that one hook up who gets overly attached, wants to hang out in the morning, cook eggs, etc. But it stops being annoying and starts getting terrifying once she pulls a loaded gun on you. Then you’re faced with a very serious dilemma: get shot in cold blood right then and there, or watch 12 hours of Chelsea lately? Tough call. Before you’re done processing all that Handler, she sacrifices a chicken while you’re handcuffed to her. And then her husband shows up, and realizes he’s more into you, so he gives you his card. Sometimes, hooking up is just weird like that.

4 “Pubes Like Jagger”

Well, you were curious what Mick Jagger shampooed his pubes with, right? Oh, but, even if you weren’t, you’d like to know now. Come on! Fine, just watch the video; we won’t spoil it. At the very least, you’d like to see a bunch of bushy females gyrating at you. Oh, you wouldn’t like that either. Jeez, you’re certainly a hard gent to please. OK, so a cute chick with an afro encouraging you to be yourself (sort of)? Who doesn’t enjoy that? Ugh… fine. Just watch the video, anyway. It’s got something for everyone except you, apparently. So quit being such a prude.

3 “I’m Elmo and I Know It”

Even Elmo experiences existential crises, as this adorable spoof proves. Come on, all our video spoofs couldn’t be sadistic or cynical… Like, what if a chick reads this? Featuring cameos from the usual suspects (read: Big Bird and Jamie Foxx), this mash-up of everyone’s favorite little red monster gives us flash backs to childhood. Look at these crayons, you jerks! (OK, we we’re bad kids.) But we so desperately still want to high five Elmo — not to mention learn that rad dance that he does during the refrain — that we giggle pretty heartily watching this. When was the last time Barney released a video this funny? Yeah, Barney sucks!

2 “We’re Not Young”

Closer to middle age than your twenties? Married, depressed, and nothing to show for it? Well, at least you can rest assured that the twenty-somethings reading this article will laugh at your misfortune. It raises a good point about the band Fun’s only hit up to this point, though: how dumb are they going to look singing it in their forties? Fifties? Or will they just off themselves by that point? Or will a listener driven mad by that repetitive melody take care of that for them? Otherwise, they’ll look at least as dumb as the Who singing “My Generation.”

1 “Staying In Anthem”

You know who can eat a whole pizza? You! And we won’t even judge you for crying about it in the shower later. Indeed, this funny foil to LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” is about our isolationist tendencies, which convince us to forgo social interaction when we want to get some work done. (More like procrastinate in our PJ’s while we eat Cocoa Puffs mixed with Peanut Butter Crunch (Screw Reese’s Puffs!)) But maybe you’re alone and reading this right now, and this song might have some special meaning for you. If so, there are a number of books at your local library on topics concerning Agoraphobia. Lol! JK… That’s outside.

There you have the best starting point for NSFW LOLs. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry (from laughing), and you’ll be a better person at the end of it. Or at least feel better compared to these weirdos. But because we know all you web junkies and trolls out there always think you know better than we do, we want you to put up your favorite YouTube song parodies below. Hey, if your suggestion packs in the yucks, it might just replace one of the other videos on this list. So, go ahead, make our day! Every last one of us stands to benefit!
