Horror Movies to See in the Theater Featured Image

New horror movies come out all the time, but the best ones seem to come out around the Halloween season. Makes sense, right? You and your pals can scare up a good time by experiencing a horror movie the way it’s meant to be seen — on the big screen.

All that gore, trauma and in your face suspenseful action is best viewed with popcorn and someone’s hand to hold. You need support to get through all those jump scares! So if you are brave enough to see a new horror movie in the theaters, this October has got you covered.

5.) IT

Release Date: September 8, 2017

This movie is doing so well that it’s still playing in many theaters through the month of October. IT is the adaptation of Stephen King’s famous horror novel about a terrifying clown that stalks a bunch of innocent kids.

When Georgie goes missing, all hell breaks loose on the town. You’ll easily walk away being afraid of red balloons and sewer grates. They are already making the sequel, which should be out next year. It’s that good.

If you would like to see a version of IT that was made for television in the ’80s, you can stream it on Amazon Video or buy a copy on DVD or Blu Ray format. That one stars Tim Curry as Pennywise in a role that’s become a bit of a cult classic.

4.) mother!

Darron Aronofsky’s horror/thriller is the perfect morality tale to watch this Halloween season. Make no mistake about it, this film is definitely terrorizing. Try not to read too much about the film, because ideally you want to walk into it without any spoilers to ruin the suspense. This won’t wreck anything for you, but the end will haunt your dreams. If you want to see some of the director’s other great films, Requiem For a Dream and Black Swan are two of his best.

3.) Happy Death Day

Release Date: October 13, 2017

Campy, goofy, horrific and fun are just a few words to describe Happy Death Day. It’s a little bit like Groundhogs Day, but with murder. Starring Jessica Rothe as a college student, who basically has the worst day ever on repeat, Happy Death Day will provide all the jump scares you and your friends can handle this Halloween.
