Go Green With These Best-Tasting Salad Recipes

Salads are often seen as pre-meals, or ‘incomplete meals,’ unsatisfying, and often referred to as rabbit food.This doesn’t have to be so – they can be incredibly tasty, fulfilling and cleansing at the same time, without being laden with heavy cream-based or unhealthful sugar-laced dressings.Here are a few quick-to-prepare, excellent salads that are well-combined for easier digestion, better energy and cleansing.They are lower in calories, have fresh ingredients and will satisfy your inborn craving for flavors galore!

5 Vietnamese

Vietnamese – Combine a few bokchoy leaves, shredded, a few Napa cabbage leaves, shredded, 1 carrot, julienned, a few leaves each of basil and mint, chopped, ½ cup cucumber, julienned, and either a few almonds, chopped, or grilled animal protein of your choice.Toss with juice of 2 limes, 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar, 1 clove garlic, minced, 1 teaspoon ginger, minced, a dash of agave or stevia, and salt to taste. Option: Add ¼ teaspoon chili pepper oil for some pizazz

4 II Greco

II Greco – Combine 1 head of chopped romaine lettuce with ½ cup chopped cucumber, ½ cup chopped tomatoes, 1 oz. chopped feta cheese and a handful of olives with 1 tablespoon olive oil, 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 chopped garlic clove and pepper to taste. Option: Add garbanzo beans

3 E’Italiano

E’Italiano – Combine a few handfuls fresh arugula with a very small handful of pine nuts, a cup of chopped heirloom tomato, and 1 ounce fresh mozzarella or goat cheese with 1 tablespoon olive oil, 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar, and salt and pepper to taste. Option: Add chopped artichokes or hearts of palm if available

2 Mejicano Guacamole Salad

Mejicano Guacamole Salad – Combine a few handfuls of greens of choice, 1 clove garlic, chopped, a few cherry tomatoes, 1 green onion, chopped, raw kernels from 1 ear of corn, juice of 2 lemons, 1 teaspoon sea salt, a dash of pepper and a pinch of cayenne (optional). Add 1 whole avocado and gently press into salad, making sure to break down the avocado.Add quinoa to salad to make itheartier. Option: Use kale for a nutritional boost as greens base, but allow 30 minutes once salad is prepared for the juices to soften the kale.

1 American Deli

American Deli – Combine a few handfuls baby lettuce greens, a few grape tomatoes, 1 or 2 sliced hard-boiled eggs, a few olives, and some alfalfa sprouts in a bowl.Add 1 tsp. mustard, juice of 1 lemon, 1 tsp. sea salt and a pinch of pepper to the mixture and toss until well incorporated. Option: Add meat/fresh cheese of choice

These salads are an excellent ‘basics’ to add to if you wish, and travel well if you bring the dressing separately to add upon eating.Keep in mind that organic is best, especially in produce that are leafy, or produce with softer skin.
