Authentication is a separate process required to access credit reports and scores. This involves answering a few basic questions based on information in the customer’s credit report to ensure no one else gains access to the credit report.
Once consumers have completed enrollment and passed authentication, PrivacyGuard grants them instant access to a 3-bureau credit report. This report allows customers to easily compare the data on file with Equifax®, Experian® and TransUnion®, while also viewing a credit score from each bureau. Included with each credit score is a report showing how the credit score ranks compared to the U.S. population along with positive and negative factors affecting each credit score. Credit reports and scores can be updated monthly at no additional charge.
PrivacyGuard provides daily monitoring at all three credit bureaus. Members are alerted by email, text or phone when significant changes are detected including new accounts, address changes and inquiries (i.e. who is looking at a client’s credit report). Monthly “all clear” notices are sent even when there are no threats or changes, encouraging members to rest assured that their credit files are being monitored.
Monthly score tracking of a single-bureau credit score helps members keep abreast of their credit score over time. Members can set alert preferences for a target score, score range and/or risk level.
PrivacyGuard proactively scours underground portals on the Internet looking for compromised Social Security numbers. When a risk is discovered, PrivacyGuard quickly alerts the member so steps can be taken to prevent misuse.
Members can initiate credit report disputes by phone with a PrivacyGuard representative or by downloading a dispute form.

A PrivacyGuard membership includes Norton™ Internet Security Online as part of its identity protection service. This security software offers protection from viruses, spyware, phishing and SPAM. (This software is not currently available for Macintosh computers.)
